We apparently overachieved in 2012

You think? OK I'll start ...

Had the team playing the right way; some really excellent attacking football - just lacked the tough tackling midfielder (Ince was not the answer) and a solid back four.

I don't buy into the spice boys criticism... no-one would have cared if we had won shit, and the spice boys image was not the reason we didn't win shit.

So everyone agrees with that?

I think he meant the rubbish Roy...

I hope he does

So as Sean said, this is just self serving bollocks so you can act like a cunt again. Lacking in a real understanding of the club, again. Like I said, it's annoying that you can be such a decent poster, and then go off on one and act like an absolute fucking bellend.

Disappointing to see a legend say anything less than 1st is overacheiving
Disappointing, but not really surprising, that you didn't read the article. Where does it say overachieving?

You do know the difference between 'overachieving' and 'beyond expectation'?

Modo use doesn't get Liverpool.

And the person who said we've always had massive weapons supporting us is true. They just never had the massive platform that is the Internet to reach so many.

Thank The Lord for the Internet.

How can someone spend £100 million and say we exceeded expectations by winning the league cup and finishing 8th?
Winning the CL in the first year that's exceeding expectations. How much did Benitez spend, Mark? Was it £100 million?

“People will turn around and say we finished eighth in the league, but how many points would you swap for three Wembley trips?
I'd swap that cup for a place in the CL, I'll tell you that.

I've seen replays of the CL final about 50 times, Fa cup final in 2006 like 30 times.
The league cup final in 2012? Never seen a replay of it.

I actually hesitated about posting this article because you think I've got some agenda against Dalglish. But any sane person would admit that what he's saying about "our expectations" is absolute bollocks.

So you'll watch replays of getting to fourth? What a bizarre argument.

Overachieving, exceeding expectations, it's fucking semantics.
It all depends on what his expectations were. If he expected us to get relegated after spending £100 million, then I guess winning a cup is exceeding expectations.
But I don't believe that's true, Tottenham just spent £100 million. If they finish 8th and win the league cup, do you think Villas Boas will keep his job?

Benitez spunked nearly £80m on shite over two seasons, before prices became inflated. Shut the fuck up Modo.

The argument is that it never meant anything and btw if I remember it correctly we made Cardiff look like a top side in that game.
And Downing got MOM for being Downing.

Anyway, of the £100m, are you saying that Suarez, Enrique and Henderson were mistakes? Riiiiiiiggggghhhhhhht.

Well at least he got us to the promised land.

He did, in his first season. He then had 5 years where all he had to show for it was an FA Cup and money wasted. What's your point? His CL doesn't absolve him of responsibility for leaving us up shit creak. Kenny had a season and a half.

Downing had a good final. Not a good player nor did he have a good season for his transfer fee. Stop re-writing history because of your agenda.

A trophy is way more important than anything. We exist to win trophies. Remember that.

Anyone, ANYONE, who uses a man like KD and his service to this football club as a platform for their own sad internet-warrior self-serving crap should take a long look at themselves.
Regardless of the mistakes made in his final tenure, the joy or otherwise of actually winning something (that's what we're for by the way) compared to the holy grail of finishing 4th (what an achievement!) and his own comments in that article, the man is quite rightly regarded as one of the best things about Liverpool F.C. since 1977.
He's earned the right to have his say. You just turned on a computer. We really do have some absolute weapons 'supporting' this club nowadays.

Huzzah!

Modo you are really fucking pathetic.
Youve twisted the words, title and context and are now trolling your halfwitted agenda based on statements the man didnt make.
Even by your own cuntish standards this rates.

You, Dreamy and Ryan.
Quite the triumvirate.

If this thread and those comments at the top of the first page were actually about what he did for us in the 70's as you say, then I'd comment on that.

But they're not. They're quotes about what was served up during his reign as manager 2 years ago by him, so I'll comment on them.

And stick your superfan bollox up your arse, it's nauseating as fuck and makes you look like a pillock.

I don't think after the spend he can argue it was over achievement but at the same time I do agree, a trophy is a trophy. Not all of his signings were shite either but well... We've all said enough on the 55m thrown away on Downing and Carroll.

I was gutted he got sacked tbh, but not surprised after 8th.

I loved the way he wiped the shit of Hodgson away from us... I really hated Roy and what he epitomised.... and I genuinely did enjoy the way he had us playing for a while, with Kenny in charge it felt like it was our club again.

For me whatever fallout he had with Meirelles was a key moment, so much of our best footy in Kennys first 6 months went through him.

I just wish I could have sat in the meeting where Carroll and Downing's names were first mentioned and gone into a mystic convulsive trance channelling the footballing gods all frothy at the mouth and levitating issuing a warning from the future grave.
