Was it a mistake not playing Matip?

Hindsight is 20/20 and all that jazz, but was it a mistake not playing Matip in the final and against Spurs in the league?
Why am I asking?
I just feel like Matip offers the team more in attack than Konate does.
I mean, it's like having an extra player in midfield at times.

Bore off. There was other major factors we didn’t win those games.
Obviously, I'm just asking if others also think he would have made a difference.
Probably even stupid to mention it, but he did get an assist in the last CL final he played.

Perhaps yes when in possession, but Konate was also there to be a threat from set pieces we just didn't win many. Many other reasons for both though.

Leave it in the past - best not to continue thinking about losing the league by a point (again) and losing a CL final.

They are two teams who are lethal on the counter and playing Konate was the correct choice. Matip would’ve left us too exposed on the break.

Konate was our MOTM in the CL final, IMO, and his blistering recovery pace makes sense against a Spurs side that were entirely limited to counter attacks against us.

Great as he is, I'm not convinced Matip was key to victory in either of those matches.

I love Matip, but Konate was the right choice, especially with Vinicuis's pace to deal with.
In hindsight, if Klopp made a mistake, I thought he should have brought Firmino on sooner, but I can forgive him that.
He's got us to 3 finals in 5 years. In that time period, only Madrid have managed more than one.
He gets the benefit of the doubt from me on any decision he chooses to make.

Courtois played the game of his life in the final. Nothing was getting past that fucker.

This. Courtois is a v.good keeper in any case, and on that particular night a squadron of tanks wouldn't have got past him in that kind of form.

What if we had denied Salah the chance to play in the AFCON, and had monster Salah for the entire season.
Would we have won the league and CL final then?

What if Rodri gets penalised for the handball against Everton?

Hindsight is great but Matip might have struggled in both the final and against Spurs.
Klopp had an excellent hit rate for his rotation between the two all season fwiw.

Matip put up a season for the ages, on par with our greats. Given the form he was in, he should have started every game.

But at the same time, his fitness record issues are well known. Rather than focusing on the games, he didn't start, I am focusing on the number of games he started and enjoyed his performance. If we had pushed him a bit too hard, there is every chance he would have experienced another long-term injury.
