Utrecht are an excellent home team, and have won all 7 matches, including a 4-0 win over Celtic.

This won't be easy, so I'd field our strongest team anyhoo.
Yup.

Wolfswinkel is their main man, scores a majority of their goals.

Looking forward to see if Tommy Oar gets a run against us.

He's a young Aussie with big talent... only a bench player at the moment, but Utretch certainly rate him high as they given him the no.10 jersey.

I am but suddenly have a load of work on, so I already feel like I won't be fully enjoying it but half worrying about crap.

I hate that feeling.

I'd be tempted to try something like this:

....................................KEEPER...............................

KELLY..........SKRTEL.........AGGER.......SOMEONE FIT

..................SHELVEY..............RAUL.........................

KUYT.........................GERRARD.......................COLE

.............................TORRES......................................

Johnson could use a break, Carra is not getting any young and I'd really like to see whether Skrtel and Agger could start to gel more. Shelvey should be given a chance soon and why not in a game where result is not all important but where tempo is most certainly high would be a perfect start.

If there's no fit LBs left I'd throw in Robinson at the deep end too. He's at least well build and rather pacy. Could be alright.

Is Robinson well built? I thought he was a slight when he had that cameo last season.
Really want to see Shelvey play anyway.

Well he's rather tall and certainly didn't look out of shape against Bosingwa yesterday, but I could be wrong of course. He just seemed rather strong to me and with no apparent fit LB around he could be closer to the starting line-up than ever before.

Although Roy most def will opt for Agger on the left.
It's going to be Agger at LB; I'm pretty sure Hodgson isn going to experiment for a while.
Yup and Kyrgiakos and Skrtel in central.

Quiffer.
Yep, although 95/96 was also free flowing footie, but without the trophies.
That was some nice football though.
I enjoyed it, but frankly when you break it down, all that style over substance didn't win us any trophies and also saw one of the ignominious performances in 96 Cup final. Awful, awful day.

Argghhhh...dont talk about those ssuuiittssss...
I didn't mention them!

Yeah, we played some nice attacking football. But the 'most attacking team in the league'? That was Keegan's Newcastle, surely.

They were the Premier League's crack suicide squad!

Sounds like he won't be picking a reserve side for this one:

Hodgson: “It’s on my mind to play Torres, Raul Meireles and Dirk Kuyt on Thursday. I think they’re knitting together well.'
Is it only me who suddenly saw a vision of Torres, Meireles & Kuyt sitting in a circile, knitting a nice sweater for old uncle Roy to keep him warm during the cold winter...
I would say Roy will take this shit Europa League seriously....and it will have a big impact on our league performance. Pray hard that all our important players doesn't get injured.

Had some tea with your mate rafael glock?

Liverpools tropp: Reina, Jones, Johnson, Kelly, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Carragher, Shelvey, Poulsen, Lucas, Rodriguez, Spearing, Babel, Meireles, Jovanovic, Cole, Kuyt, Eccleston, Ngog, Torres

Blimey, I thought that was the team to start with. 'Two goalkeepers!' I said to myself. 'Roy really is going defensive for this one...'

Would we be allowed? Nice idea, guard each half of the goal. We are going for 0-0 anyway so why not???

No Agger? That's weird, given that both our LBs are out injured.

And fucking hell, look at our midfielders - what a load of shite we've got, compared to three years ago.

Maxi is in the squad Mark

Driving back from Leeds on the M62 in the pissing rain, listening to the radio today, I heard that Gerrard had been rested and wasn't traveling to Holland. I thought... everyone knows I'm off, I might take that advice and just get cuddled up on the couch with a bottle of rum and my phone turned off. I mean it's pissing down in Utrecht as well. When we booked it I imagined I'd be sat outside in some square with The Lying Rag beaming down as we got trollied, but now I don't even want to go.
