I have no fucking idea what Gump was thinking that night, it was like the whole event went to his head. He's usually really good at sticking to a gameplan and keeping to what he's good at. Look at those punches - he's swinging like a pissed up chav on a friday night up town.
I've not seen him fight like that in any of his fights before, even as a novice in the ultimate fighter.

Silva looked excellent, but Gump did his best to help him.

Surely Silva has to stay at 205 now until the end of his contract when he retires in a few fights. It also helps if he vacates his 185 belt for the 'champions clause' in his contract - as it'll make it much easy for him to start boxing.

I've just found out that the UFC ring announcer is Michael Buffer's cousin.

Quality.

Half brother. More importantly they are part of the same company, hence why they can both use the trademark "let's get ready to rumblllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeee"

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiits tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!!!

I downloaded what I thought was the entire thing earlier and watched it. It stopped right before the Main Event !

I was surprised by Damian Maia. Rookie mistake

Me too. I still think Maia is an awesome talent and one for the future, but a silly KO. Nate will still get tooled by Silva if it happens 😉

I was impressed with Thiago too, he looked well pissed off lol

Couture should retire, despite his impressive performance against Nogeira.
I know that my claim seems strange because of my use of impressive and Couture in the same sentence.
But he's 46 years old for crying out loud, and he took alot of hits against Nogeira and Brock.
The sport is growing and I don't think he can cope.

He's agreed to drop down to LHW. I think that's where his last fights will be and it makes sense as he's a massive LHW, and can monster quite a lot of them. He can have some massive fights in LHW.

The HW division is now silly with Brock in there, it's like a Super Heavy. Randy was 220 on Saturday, and Brock comes in over 280 on the night of the fight - that's just stupid. The Carwin fight should be interesting as Carwin has very heavy hands and can wrestle, I will LOVE IT if Brock gets laid out.

I want Brock to keep it going until a fight can be set up with Fedor. By that stage it would be a genuine super fight and with the right marketing would push MMA up another level.

It's a shame UFC 103 isn't a stand out card, I would have loved it to beat Mayweather for PPV buys,

Fedor is in another level. He'd maul Brock. FACT.

My only concern with Fedor vs Brock is that Fedor comes in at about 220lbs and Brock come in around 280lbs. Brock is the top of a new breed of super-heavies. Now GSP is one of the best, if not the best P4P fighters on the planet, but, he'd get his arse handed to him by an average heavyweight due to the size advantage - once the heavy gets ontop of you and is fairly savvy to submission defence, then it's curtains.

I'm concerned that if Brock vs Fedor ever happened, Brock would charge him, put him on his back and just lie on him for 3-5 rounds and win a decision, or even worse ground out a TKO. When Brock is not a talented fighter what so ever, if he was 50lbs lighter he would be cannon fodder.

Did anyone watch the first episode of the new season of the Ultimate Fighter this week? I usually loathe the fucking thing but thought I'd watch it due to it being a heavyweight season.

Kimbo fucking Slice. Ohhhhhhhh reeeeeeeeeally.

Also, I love Rampage but he is without doubt the worst coach of all time. He can't stand training himself for a start.

Agreed. He's just awful. Gives no advice or tactics to any of his team.

Great entertainer otherwise though.

Ultimate fighter spoiler........

Did ya see that cut on the fellas forehead...wow!
[/quote]

It was a lovely cut, right down to the bone. I think he's gonna have to pull out because of it 😀

Just watched this properly for the first time. A 5 minute round and for 4 mins 30 seconds they just hugged each other.

Add 3 seconds on and Robbie Fowler could get a hat trick in that time.

Shite.

So you watched the last fight then and none of the others, which were all good fights.

Just saw the Vera - Couture fight. Daylight fucking robbery!!!
Vera was the clear winner.

Yeah.. the main event was sh*te.. but most of the other fights on the card were good, especially Bisping-Kang.

It was a shit fight though. I'm not particularly bothered by the decision. While I do think that Vera edged it, he really should have made it more emphatic than it was. He allowed himself to be tied up time after time and showed absolutely no urgency in his work.

Randy Couture should just knock it on the head. Sure, he's in unbelievable shape for a 46-year-old but the fight was a total eyesore. He just doesn't have the explosiveness or the work rate to do what he used to do and therefore resigns himself to just leaning on the other fella for three rounds.

He'll leave behind a fantastic legacy but the more he fights on, the more he'll muddy that legacy with the memory of a poor old man who didn't know when to pack it in.

The thing is, it's only recently that these fighters could win significant rewards off their ability. It has to be tempting for them to try to get some of all the money that's only within the last few years really started to flow.

Fair enough but he has also branched out into many business ventures that seem to be doing rather well for him.

Ultimately he has to decided how he wants to go out. I have no problem with him continuing on but I have a decreasing desire to see him main-eventing cards.
