... or whatever it's called, should be used soley to blood any youngster / fringe players we have to see if they have what it takes to make the grade, ESPECIALLY if we have no money to spend on new players over the next transfer window or two.

I still wants us to win the competition if we play in it. Its still silverware at the end of the day and we would get to play in the Super Cup. I like the idea of blooding some of our young talent and giving them a taste of what's to come. Winning the Europa League is better than winning the Carling Cup.

I would guess the 4 rounds left when the champions league teams come in would be worth 10 to 15m so not disimilar to going to the quarters or semis of the champions league. So financially we could use it.

Unfortunately you're way off. I remember seeing Rangers revenue 2 years ago from the competition after making it to the final. They only got about 3 million in total from the competition. They did something on this last season when Martin O'Neill put a second string side out to concentrate on the champions league on ssn. Basically saying he was taking a gamble by concentrating on the league but a calculated one as there wasn't much money to make in the competition.

Sorry, but don't we go through to the next stage if we beat Debrecen and Fiorentina at Anfield (the latter by 2+ goals) and Fiorentina draw with Lyon? That is quite a feasible scenario, I'm sure Lyon will want to finish top and will not roll over for Fiorentina, then again they can lose in Florence, beat Debrecen in the last game and still finish top if we do Fiorentina.

The point is, I'll be thinking Europa when it comes to it.

YEs but Lyon are already through so I can't see them doing anything special in Florence. You never know though. Beating Fiorentina 3-0 will be no easy task, obviously it has the potential to go down as one of those great Anfield nights, but the way Liverpool are playing at the moment it's very doubtful. Just cn't see us going a game like that where we're after goals not conceding any!
