I only passed through Naples Crum, on the way to and from Ischia, which is an island in the Bay of Naples.
It did look like a bit of a dump and the traffic was absolutely mad, I had craziest taxi trip ever from the ferry port to the airport.
That said, I reckon if you knew where to go, it could be a cracking place and the locals were very friendly.
Bologne is a regular enough poster on here. He might be able to give you a decent heads up on the place.

Naples, like any other large port city, is a vibrant melting pot and well worth a visit for a day or 2 if you've never been.
The only caveat is that it is the maximum expression of "Italianism" where non-following of rules and regulations is taken to a whole new level and that explains the appalling driving.
You need to have your big city hat on at all times. Those cheeky Neapolitans love a scam.
Handy hint; haggle over all prices quoted to you.
I've been there 3 times but only for the day on each occasion so I don't actually know that much about the sights.
I'm here if anyone wants further info. I doubt I'll be going to the game because we're moving house in September and money is an issue.
