Transfer Rumours

Pedro would certainly be a better fit than Benzema. However, we apparently turned down the option of Pedro and Tello to be included in the Suarez deal.

I guess the positive about Benzema is that he appears to have more to give yet.

If his apparent apathy at times on the pitch could be replaced by a burning desire to hunt the ball down, he'd be some player.

Wow. I wouldn't be against that, either. Would certainly have him ahead of Higuain.

I don't often find myself disagreeing with you, Hal, but I've got to about this. If I were a Premiership defender I'd be a lot more concerned at the prospect of facing Higuain.

There is talk of Di Maria being available and that Utd are after him. 50 mill euros.
Real want to replace him with James Rodriguez.

We would be mad not to be in for one of them aswell.

Di Maria -- yes, all day long. He can slot in our midfield and attack effortlessly. His stamina and legs are astonishing really.

Reus would be a great signing.

Problem is he is Dortmund through and through much like Carra was Liverpool.

"Last month, reports emerged claiming West Ham and Liverpool to be the frontrunners for River Plate centre-back Eder Alvarez Balanta’s signature. At £6 million Balanta is a potential steal given his massive upside as an athletic, all action centre-back with pace and strength in abundance, not to mention considerable aerial ability."

I'm not really sold on getting ANY kind of marquee signing tbh. Higuain, Benzema, Di Maria - any of them. I'm just not sure that's the direction we should go in at this point. Sanchez was a bit different because you could sense that he was a natural grafter and fairly modest. In general, though, these sort of players seem a bit at odds with what Rodgers is trying to build here. Above all is the team dynamic and hard work. I think it's hard to find players of that calibre, especially ones who've already had their career peak, who'd really fit in well in that environment.

Apparently Di Maria has been telling his parents, since he was 13 or 14, that it is his dream to one day play for man utd.

Exactly so. As gkmacca has referenced, BR had to essentially alter the system to get the best out of Suarez; I suspect he will be keen to sign players who fit in to how we want to play, rather than signing others that need things to centre around them.
