Transfer Rumours 21/22

I'm ok with the extensions.

I do have a problem with them thinking fans will be fooled by these in place of the transfers.

I'm grand not signing anyone, if that's what Klopp wants right now. Just hold off on the new contract announcements until tomorrow.

Cunts.

For sure a good signing here or there can help to increase the chance of success but if your manager is crap then does it matter? I'm looking at the positives...I'd rather have Klopp and no signings, than have 140m worth of new signing and have Arteta as a manager!

I think I've finally figured it out... all the pieces finally fit.

What do you do if your entire model is based around selling one or two high value players every so often so that you can reinvest in the squad but the rich clubs you normally rely on are either broke or no longer playing ball?

Well...

Step 1: get all your key assets tied down on long contracts.

Step 2: announce that your sporting director will be stepping down.

Step 3: sporting director joins one of the aforementioned clubs.

Step 4: bids incoming

Update from the tall Paul Gorst:

Paul Gorst Liverpool deadline day update

So just over five hours to go until the transfer window 'slams shut' until 2022 and Liverpool are yet to blink.

In truth, we're not expecting too much more in the way of incomings unless there is a huge, dramatic turn of events and change of heart in the corridors of the AXA Training Centre.

The lights will still be on in the office of Michael Edwards over at the Kirkby facility, but it would be no surprise if Jurgen Klopp has clocked off for the night.

We've had new contracts for Nat Phillips and Jordan Henderson today and that, ordinarily, would represent an excellent day at the office for those at the club, but the demand for incomings is high this evening.

Do Liverpool have enough as it stands to mount a title challenge? For me, they do, but I would feel a lot more confident about their chances if they had an additional attacking option to ease the burden, particularly on Mohamed Salah.

Klopp has been at pains to suggest he is comfortable with his options in the middle of the park, but Xherdan Shaqiri's exit has so far not led to a replacement coming in for his spot in the squad.

Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino remain, but are either capable of starring for Liverpool for a prolonged run of games? It's difficult to answer yes to that with great sincerity.

Stay tuned on this live blog as there may still be a twist to the tale as the futures of a few others at the club remain up in the air.

That we can all agree on, but Klopp needs help through new signings. Just at least £60M per year - that's all guys.

I've had farts with more of an update

Star Date : 31-08-2021

I am currently addicted to 6CM, in search of a thread to suddenly appear that shows we have a new signing.. despite my best efforts every two minutes - I see no activity of new signings or no news. I feel all hope is lost and this space I share with so many other wonderful cunts will be full of rage come the end of this evening. It feels unreal, the silence from the club is unbelievable, we are all really in shock - I can tell the mood of this forum, those that say they are satisfied can only be those that think about sport in terms of "it's the taking part that counts - not the winning"..... but for the majority of us it feels like a complete asset strip, there will be no fit 40+ games Gini this season to support in the stopping and breaking down of the enemy, instead we have decided to take the risky road to hell. As is the FSG logo in secret:

"This is Liverpool - this means fuck all"

Please give us £80M you f*ckers....

Aren't we a crock of shit of a club when we want to be

It's like we want to make life difficult when we want to

Look forward to Klopp saying he is happy, very happy, through gritted teeth.

I don't believe this is ALL on FSG. I know there is a budget constraint but I think Klopp has a certain amount of clout and say and if he thought there was a decent player that would fit our team I'm sure he would have some say and some push. I cant believe the first manager to win us the league in 30 years doesn't have any positive influence to get the club to get players that he really wants.

I think Klopp looks at his team and is probably challenging himself to get something more out of this team. We as fans may disagree but we were top of the league until just after Christmas and still managed to finish third with a messed up midfield and defence. We now have that stability back, and who is to say because United, City and Chelsea have made signings that we cant smash our way to another title? I wouldn't put it past Klopp.
