Anyone else heard he is off to Spain for an Operation on his Knee?
[/quote]
I heard the club wanted to have one now, but he wants to delay at least until after the Athletico game. Graham Hunter said so on TalkSport I believe.

Not really.

Our season ended some time ago; 5th 6th or 7th place...what of it.

And while winning the UEFA Cup would be nice solely because we dont win anything anymore, its still a tinpot cup consolation prize.

Losing to AM shouldnt make us feel worse than we do now; now we just need to focus on how to recover for next season.

He was due to fly out to see Ramon Cugat again, but the flight chaos put paid to that.

Don't know if an Op was confirmed or not.

Surely we can find someone to rub some horse placenta into his knee.

He'll be right as rain.

Ramon Cugat does stuff along those lines.

Oh shit..

Hopefully it will keep him out of the WC too, a full rest and a full pre season will see him tear some new A-holes next season.

I'd give Pacheco a bash up front he's no more lightweight than Ngog. If anything he seems to be a lot stronger than Ngog. Just go to a straight 4-4-2

I hope he doesn't miss the world cup. I've said it before in the other thread where we debated it. He's the best striker in the world, and it would be a massive shame for him to look back on his career and not be able to say he played at the World Cup at the peak of his powers and maybe win it.

I can understand those who want him to miss out on the tournament. I just think we would be extremely harsh to him in wishing that.

Yep, agree with that.

I know the reasons people say it and it might sound wonderfully and profoundly "I'm Liverpool me" but really it's just pitiful. Wishing one of our best players, who's given us so much in three years, will be unfit for what could be his greatest ever tournament is pathetic. This is his moment to shine and possibly prove himself the best striker in the world. I hope he takes it with both hands........... and gets beaten in the final. 😉

I don't think wishing for the best interests of your football club is ever "pitiful".

Our allegience is to the club, not to Spain and certainly not to Fernando Torres.

^^^

the torres situation is owen all over again, a ridiculously prolific striker who can't be relied upon to remain fit all season. rafa really needs to push the boat out and get the best striker he can lay his hands on rather than a striker that can come in and do a job and whatever problems we incur keeping them both happy, fitting the team around them we are going to deal with.

my vote is for darren bent. knows where the goal is, can lead the line on his own if (rather when torres is injuried). don't know how torres and bent would work together and frankly I don't care, we can't keep putting all our eggs in the torres basket he's too injury prone.
also if we had bent we could rest torres completely in uefa and the CC and start bent with gerrard supporting.

I hope Torres gets fit for the WC and wins it.

I just hope he hasn't played his last game for us.

we'll have torres for another season no question but another season of underacievement and he'll be off and who would blame him, certainly not me.

"Pitiful"?

Why would I give a ffuck about Spain? I only care what Torres does for Liverpool. There's fuck all "profound" about it.

And let's not ignore the fact that a summer of rest would do him the world of good, and that if he does have an amazing WC, is top scorer, and wins the trophy with Spain, the clamour for him to leave would be simply astounding and there'll be EVEN MORE gargantuan bids from Europe's elite coming his way left, right and centre.

So far from being "pitiful" it is actually "sensible"
