Re; Zlatan and Eto'o, I am not sure either club will be delighted, really

Obv Barca got fucking *raped* as everyone said at the time, but while Zlatan may well be one of that club's costliest ever blunders, Eto'o hasn't done much at Inter either so far; 10 goals is it? 9?
Milito is chipping in with his fair share. He's into double figures i'm sure and Eto'o did have african nations cup duty. I'm sure Inter won't care what goal tally Eto'o reaches in the league as long as he scores important goals in europe.

I'd never sell him. Did anybody see Andy Townsend before on ITV4? He sounded like he was about to break down and cry at the thought of us selling Torres, he was saying it would be an absolute travesty. Which it would.

I've said it before about Gerrard, but selling Torres would be like selling a part of the soul and symbol of the club. We should never sell our best players. If we do then we're accepting our fate and would be looking to spiral into mediocrity.

Unlikely as it is, if Liverpool sell Torres to any other EPL club it would signal the beginning of the end for us as any kind of force in English football.
Unless we got 100m for him and bought say Villa for 40m.

Maybe we could still compete then.

I'll bet my left bollock that Torres won't leave us in the summer.
In Pat's worst case scenario we sell Torres, Gerrard and Masher.

Sunday 6th June 2010

Manchester City are prepared to make Liverpool striker Fernando Torres the world's richest footballer by offering him £200,000-a-week to join them. But the Spaniard is set to reject the move and join Chelsea in a £50m transfer. (Sunday Express)

Zzz Zzz *yawns* Zzz Zzz but prays to god it doesn't happen

Bollocks.

Fernando will not do this.

Please, let's not have any "why wouldn't he ?" shite.

If/when *sob* he leaves us, it will be to foreign shores.

Agreed. Were he to leave us while still in his prime, IMO he'd go to either Barca or a Serie A club. If (which I hope) he stays till the latter part of his career, he might perhaps go home to Atletico. Can't see him anywhere else.

The oracle that is Ballague was saying Torres has rejected city and isn't interested but it's a different story about Chelsea. If he joins the chavs, he can fuck right off

Ballague know absolutly nothing though.

Havn't Chelsea already said a number of times that they're not interested. It's the same every sunday..

They will all say it, journo's have to say such shite in the summer.

He's going nowhere.

Of all the journos barret is one I would listen to to be honest, this was from his webchat last week

Chances out of 10 of these players being at the club next season

Tony Barrett:
Your list of players didn't come through Scott but I can probably guess who they are so I'll have a go:
Torres - 3/10
Gerrard 5/10
Reina - 9/10
Mascherano 3/10
Carragher 10/10
And one for good luck: Degen hopefully 0/10

[Comment From vancouvervancouver: ]
you said 3/10 for Torres. Where do you think he would go?

Tony Barrett:
I think Chelsea's interest will harden in the coming days and weeks.

Comment From Gautham GGautham G: ]
You seriously think Torres would move to another english club let alone Chelsea after professing his love for the club and fans a zillion times?

Tony Barrett:
You can't under-estimate how frustrated and unhappy Torres is at the moment. He keeps hearing talk of investment and it never arrives.

[Comment From ChrisChris: ]
Do you speak to Torres yourself ? Is your information first hand or just inferred from the situation ?

Tony Barrett:
Hello Chris, yes I do speak to Torres myself.

Tony Barrett has changed quite a lot since he moved to the Times, but I guess thats normal when you have to right something sensational every week. He's been very wrong on many occations.

Torres won't go anywhere. Not for a season at least.

Why are you so confident of that Hansern?

I felt similarly up till a few weeks ago but now I am far from being so sure.

I could sort of forgive him if he were to go to Barca but if he transfers to Chelsea after all has been said and done then he can feck right off.

I was very pessimistic aswell, but when Rafa left my opinion changed. I really think he'll give us one more season, at least. If we get new owners and start moving forward he'll stay longer. But, I don't think he'll leave. Certainly not for Chelsea.

Torres has on numerous occassions stated that he is staying at Liverpool. Its really not necessary to keep reiterating his stance. His interviews clearly demonstrate his love for all things Liverpool.

Time will tell if he follows in Pepe's footsteps!

torres' comments regarding staying were made before we finished 7th and before the manager was sacked. I'm not saying he'll definately leave but things have changed since he said he was going no where. personally I think the ony way torres will stay is if the club changes hands.

Possibly, but I bet he'll give us at least this coming season to get that sorted. If it hasn't been by next summer, that'll be the time to worry.

the fact the top players may leave isn't worrying as much as the fact the money from the sales may not be reinvested back in the team.

Eto's being playing the Dirk role out wide though.

Not that I'm one to criticise Mourinho but I don't think it suits him at all

I think Torres will give it another season to see how things pan out.
I also very much doubt he would go to another English Club, even if we were willing to sell him to one, mainly because of his comments on how the premiership takes too much out of players.

regards

torres will go where he thinks he will likely win silverware (or even challenge for it) like it or not we are now a club in transition and I don't think he is prepared to wait for us to come out the other side. if we want to keep torres investment have to come THIS season.

I keep trying to tell these people.

I doubt Torres will go unless the club actively try to sell him, which is unlikely. I don't think Gerrard will go either.

Mascherano is fairly certain to be off though.

Was told this week that Torres is not pleased with his agent about the recent quotes as it gave guarantees that he had not agreed to. Now thats a worry.
