Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Why are we all panicking over a rejected transfer request? So his heart's not in it. Fuck him. As far as I'm concerned, Torres is just another employee of the club now. Since he's intimated there's not going to be any room for sentiment from now on, why should we extend him that courtesy and let him go "just because he deserves better?" When he comes up against FSG in a contest, that dumb contract he signed in summer will always mean the odds are stacked against him.
FSG are a business. John Henry's going to look at Torres and say: "Mate, you've got a contract and I expect you to see it through." Same as the rest of us at work. If he's that desperate to go, then Chelsea's desire to land better surpass our desire to keep him, measured in monetary terms. If they don't pay up, then he can either keep playing to stay in his national team, or train with the reserves until we decide to let him go while wasting away another couple of years of his career - which is exactly what he's trying to avoid in joining Chelsea.
And John Henry will be thinking why would we let him leave now for 35 million just because he's had a little cry about it, when we stand to pocket at least 50 million if not more in summer. There's no way Torres is leaving in this window unless Chelsea meets the 50 million clause, and even then, FSG will extract a massive premium for the early release in addition to the 50 million.
