Top Premier footie ace is 'on cocaine'
TV show will name
him tonight

By ALEX PEAKE

Published: Today
THE identity of a top Premier League footballer who tested positive for cocaine will be revealed tonight.

He was later sold by his club in a multimillion pound deal but his new team were not told of the drug test, a TV investigation claims.

The star will be named by Channel 4 show Dispatches as it focuses on the use of recreational and performance-enhancing drugs in football.

The show claims to have discovered the identities of dozens of footballers who have failed drugs tests for cocaine and cannabis.

Their names have been kept secret by the Football Association and their clubs.

It is also claimed 240 drugs tests had to be abandoned between April 2007 and August 2010 after officials turned up at training grounds to discover the players were not there.

The show claims to have official documents that show three former England internationals and one Scottish star faced doping investigations after suspicious levels of testosterone were found in their urine.

All four were later cleared of wrongdoing.

David Howman of the World Anti Doping Agency said the FA needed to be more open about drug testing.

He added: "If you don't, then you are susceptible to an allegation you're hiding something."

The FA said it abides by the World Anti Doping Agency code.

If they have the names of dozens of players, why just shame one bloke? Seems a bit unfair.

I'd be absolutely amazed if half of the players in the Prem weren't coke heads.

I should add that I couldnt care less if a player did coke, and I hate the hypocrisy/faux outrage of the media types who no doubt type these stories out while chewing their jaws off. It would be hilarious if it was Meireles though. And very depressing if it was Carroll.

It could be almost any player sold in the last few years TBH.

I really couldn't give two fucks provided it doesn't effect their on the field performance, recreational drugs & strong liquer aren't too different & plenty of players have a drink a couple of times a week.

Oh god it's gunna be big Andy isn't it?

No chance, up in Geordie land recreational drug taking is limited to sniffing glue or inhaling aerosol cans.

I assume the player would have been banned for some time so I guess whoever it is would - as far as everyone was concerned - just not have been playing and it would have been said he was injured. But we'll find out soon enough anyway.

It's Aurelio isn't it?

I always thought there was something very dodgy about that story where he got crunched by one of his daughters and was out injured for 6 months.

I mean nobody can be that fragile can they

It would be hilarious if it was Carroll and we ended up getting his transfer fee back as compensation!

Torres maybe?

Hahahaha. Not a chance. Ok, maybe a small chance.

It won't be a big name, it'd have been revealed by now.

The villa fans think Alan Hutton cos he's known for it. That'd fit the bill IMO.

Yeah, and then we wouldn't have a striker in our squad. 🙁

Yeah, probably.

I figured it wouldn't have been an England player either or else the headline would have been 'England star revealed by documentary' rather than Premier league star

Monday morning goss, wicked !

I was told that Jonathan Woodgate's sudden transfer to Real Madrid was because Newcastle wanted rid, sharpish, as they'd just had to stop the NOTW running a story about him and his, then girlfriend, Kate Lawler (she won Big Brother) doing beak.

Its dispatches....its going to be a pile of propaganda and cock!! Like the Bryan Robson one where they tried to implicate Ferguson because some nutty Asian bar owner thought he was best friends with him when he wasnt! I imagine it will go something like this! Name and shame some washed up lower league player while trying to implicate some big name like Carroll because he said hi to some former school mate who once knew a guy who did coke!

God I hope it's Torres

Torres actually strikes me as a boring as fuck person! I doubt it! Although a 50 million transfer fee for us and a similar case of what happened to Adrian Mutu would be just about for the c*nt! ha

Yup, heard that one myself.

Well that could be problematical couldn't it?

"He was later sold by his club in a multimillion pound deal but his new team were not told of the drug test, a TV investigation claims. "

Chelsea would most likely sue LFC for return of their £50 million on the grounds that important information relevant to the deal had been withheld.
