AND FINALLY

So we've been linked with a thousand or so players this past few weeks. How many spaces do we have in our 25 man squad for foreigners?

Adam Johnson would be a good signing but City won't sell to us.

Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic has revealed that the Croatian side have rejected a £17m offer from Arsenal for highly rated youngsters midfielder Mateo Kovacic and wing-back Sime Vrsaljko.
[/quote]

The amount quoted is surprisingly high, given these 2 lads haven't been that widely touted in the media prior to this rumour.

Dinamo Zagreb claim they have rejected an offer from Arsenal for prized assets Sime Vrsaljko and Mateo Kovacic.

Full-back Vrsaljko, 18, is considered one of the best defensive prospects in European football and has most of the Premier League and Europe's elite chasing him.

16-year-old Kovacic is a highly-rated midfielder, and Dinamo have revealed that Arsenal sent a delegation to Croatia to try and do a deal for the pair earlier this month.

But club vice-president Zdvravko Mamic has stated that he has shunned a €20million (£16.9million) offer from Arsenal.

"Ten days ago we had an special visit in Zagreb," Mamic told Sportski Zurnal.

"Here were people from Arsenal and they were ready to pay 20 million Euros for Vrsaljko and Kovacic.

"But they are to stay in Dinamo, Arsenal just wanted to buy them for the future. But my answer was sharp, I said 'no' in one second."

Mamic admits he is gambling on the pair becoming even more valuable in the future.

"While I have space and no problems at our bank account I can take a risk," he continued.

"Yes, I know I'm playing with luck but so far I am winning. I believe it will be the same in the future."

This argument comes up a lot so who would they sell to? We are potentially less of a threat to City's ambition than most (of the big clubs) at the moment, and presumably if he did go Johnson would want to go to a big club, it may be that he thinks moving abroad at this stage in his career might not be a good thing, which it wouldn't. So unless they just let him serve out his contract I think we would stand as good a chance as anyone and better than most, but it won't happen

According to Kicker Magazine we've approached Shabani Nonda... He's a free agent.

Hopefully this is utter bullshit.

He's about 60, and was very ordinary for Blackburn when he was on loan there.

collymore. or maybe bellamy.

Unfortunately, I don't see any chance of us landing him. His refusal to attend a club function + swearing at his chairman was the cause of the saga and he subsequently explained that he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his wife who's pregnant with their 1st child and apparently not having an easy pregnancy.

Relocating at such a time won't suit him.

Getting too desperate?

You're plumbing the depths of SCM. The last person to wish something like this on a manager of ours was Ardja. So within 2 days I've managed to compare you to Rage and Ardja.

Surely, this should be enough to make you think on about the style and quality of your posting. Obviously, wishing serious illness on another human being should have been enough but lets give you another chance eh.

Liverpool are after Hamburg winger Jonathan Pitroipa, according to reports.

The Burkina Faso international is allegedly being closely monitored by the Merseysiders and, according to The People, Reds scouts have been watching the 24-year-old with a view to launching a January bid.

Roy Hodgson was alerted to the talents of the Pitroipa when he impressed against his Fulham side in last season's Europa League, and the Liverpool boss has since thought to have kept a keen eye on his progress.

The former SC Freiburg attacker could be available to Liverpool for around £5 million and would fit with Hodgson's pledge to add more potency to his Anfield frontline.

Pitroipa would provide Liverpool with some added cutting edge going forward - something that Hodgson is keen to address having admitted that Liverpool rely too heavily on the contributions of Anfield heroes Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool owners NESV are also keen to invest in young talent in January and, at 24-years-old, Pitroipa certainly has a bright future ahead of him.

Whether Liverpool will launch a bid for Pitroipa in the New Year remains to be seen, but it is sure to be a busy January at Anfield as Hodgson and NESV look to continue the rebuilding job on Merseyside.
