So 14 days left of the transfer window and its looking grim for us going IN and competing this year.

The Can and Coutinho sagas as predicted look to be lowering the expectation of the fans 'It will be like two new signings'

Do you know what is better than things that are LIKE new signings?

Actual signings.

14 days left.
The key areas we needed to strengthen I think we unanimously agree were:
CB
DM
LB

Then in an ideal world we would want:
GK
CF

And finally
CM

What we have done is strengthen at WF where we already have Mane, Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana who can play there.

And a back up Striker behind Origi and Ings, who inturn are behind Sturridge who in turn is behind Firmino. So maybe a 4th or 5th choice striker and also a 3rd choice Left Back.

I guess for you who know the game outside of Liverpool better than me im asking who can we sign in the next 14 days who will address our concerns and key areas?

Ignoring VVD and Keita for a moment where else can we go for these positions.

Lets assume Coutinho and Can stay.
Give me names. I still want Goretzka or Meyer, but what about those positions above.
 
The manager doesn't believe in signing players, so it's no use.
The biggest hope is that Moreno one day will just forget where Anfield is and stop showing up for games.
 
It’s looking grim. We have a load of money and the carrot of champions league and we are still struggling to sign any more quality players.
 
Flavour of the moment to believe that the club will miraculously shift into extra speed once it's confirmed we're in the Champions League but I don't know how else to cope with the disappointment of this window so far.
 
I don't think it has anything to do with the CL. We've just totally mishandled the window. Apart from Salah, of course.
 
We've missed out on so many good options already. So with thanks to FIFA 17:

CB - Davinson Sanchez, De Ligt, Issa Diop, Mammana, Howedes, Brooks, Romagnoli.

DM/CM - Diawara, Camacho, Illiramendi, Lucas, Kimmich, Kramer, Seri. Savic, Gonalons

LB - Rose, Wendell, Hector, Plattenhardt

Yeah we've gone from having 150m to spend before sales to being reliant on CL money.

But we don't have Lallana and Coutinho at the moment, and Firmino playing striker.... so good fucking idea to add some wide players with pace to the team.....

And a back up striker behind Origi and Ings.... Bullshit.

God I miss the Firmino-doesnt-score-enough threads already.

What pisses me off are some fans who go all "But remember the time when we were under Hodgson and H&G this is hardly the worst that can happen etc" can do one. The likes of Paul Tompkins can delete their Twitter account due to the barrage of abuse from fans, but it wasn't fans who promised 'record transfer' war chest for a couple of transfer windows running.

Which striker came on as substitute on Saturday? Origi or Solanke?

Innit. We will spend big, we know our targets, its almost done......IN FUCKING MAY!

Now lets see if we qualify for Europe to sign the players we have to because we cant sign the ones we need.

Im amazed there is any positivity left.
 
This has been a dreadful transfer window thus far though there have been good intentions. We have targeted top quality, and we have attracted the players to join up, but we've clearly misjudged the selling parties, and quite badly. As my da used to say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".

You are not that shallow? Even you know that each game lives a life of it's own and who is introduced as sub any given sunday doesn't determine the pecking order as such.... for gods sake...
 
FSG are taking a lot of the flack on this window, and a lot of it is justified. And of course, a lot of it is down to us knowing them all too well from past experiences.

But, I personally think Klopp might be more to blame for all this. It seems pretty clear that Klopp's approach is if we don't get the exact player he's after, we won't sign anyone. This is leaving areas of the squad severely lacking in quality. This is a suicidal approach. If we miss out on Van Dijk, for example, Klopp's basically saying that in the entire world, we can't find a good centre back to spend 50 million on.

We saw this last summer - the right left back wasn't available, so instead of moving onto other targets, we move James bloody Milner to left back. It was decidedly odd that as soon as Keita looked unlikely, Moreno was suddenly good enough again - despite being offered all over Europe. Suddenly James Milner was like a "new signing" in midfield.

Klopp is FSG's dream manager, isn't he?

It's a matter of time before we put Can back in defence and pretend it was the plan all along to use Moreno as a wing back and no defensive midfielder. It will be like signing a new team.
 
I think it's been a fucking disaster of a transfer window so far. However the storm is coming and we'll be in the thick of it I'm sure!

Dont you think its too late already? For me we have fucked any chance we had of competing already.
Lets say we go and sign 3 swanky as fuck new players, we havnt trained, worked together as a team. Pre-season is over and 4 of the top 6 are sorted and playing near as dammit their full first teams.

If we sign some players near the window, they then go on international and we are 5 games into the new campaign before we see them.

Its an unmittigated disaster of a window.
 
Well it is too late if we're going to start trying to do deals now.

There is always the possibility that we have the parameters of deals with other clubs worked out and nothing is happening on them until the Coutinho deal is done. I admit its a longshot, but it is a possibility.

With giving Lovren a bumper long term contract, the Can situation, Coutinho, VVD and Keita - we seem to have misjudged quite a few things.

I like Solanke, and i'm concerned Salah might become one of those polarising players but he's still decent. But we've got pretty much everything else contract and transfer related wrong in 2017. So i'm not all that hopeful that we'll rescue situation.
 
I think we'll make 2-3 signings late in the window. Could be dependent on getting CL footy but who knows. We've moved very slowly in this transfer window though, very disapointing.

Spurs are in the same situation as us, and a few other teams are looking for further additions.
There will be surge of transfers happening in the last two weeks. Lets hope we at least get 2. We need it.

Yeah I know what you mean but I'm an eternal optimist. I think we'll nab someone. If we don't then this has to go down as a massive cluster fuck of a window.

So let's hope we keep on winning games the next weeks so all the hard work done in preseason counts for something, as well as give newcomers some time to settle in.
 
Some of youse have superstitions to make sure we win matches, can't that be applied for signings as well? Doesn't sound so hard.
