Thomas Hitzlsperger coming out of the closet

On a mildly seperate note BBC R5 had Graeme Le Saux on this morning to talk about the reaction that can be expected if a current player outed himself.

The interviewer brought up the Robbie Fowler incident and GLS gave a really studied response to why it happened and how the whole situation affected him. He also said that Robbie had recently contacted him and apologised for both the 'bottom wiggling' incident and another related incident. He said that Robbie had taken responsibility for his actions and regreted his immature actions. GLS said that he had accepted the apology.

I wish someone would punch that pompous poltroon.

I'd like to see who in 6CM would come out of the closet first.

I reckon, soon the term 'coming out of the closet' would even be deemed offensive and discriminating, such is the PC-gone-mad world we live in today.

I get a bit tired of journalists who have never been to a football match making lazy assumptions about what goes on. They refer to homophobic chanting although I have never heard a homophobic chant.

You must be pretty deaf mate ... When watching the telly, even I hear the 'everyone's bummed a Windever' when watching Liverpool.

notwithstanding the jovial nature of this thread, it is telling that a moderate forum like ours still engages in partly homophobic jibes which sort of reinforcess the point about football not being ready for an active footballer coming out. just saying!
