Report in the "Sunday Times" today says Barca now in pole position to sign Masher, that Caceres as well as Hleb might come as part of the deal and that Roy could use him at LB, where he's played before.

Recreativo Huelva

Cáceres transferred to Recreativo Huelva in August 2007, just prior to the 2007–08 season, where he continued to play as a defender for the Andalusia side. On January 9, 2008, Cáceres scored a vital goal against Villarreal CF, the team that owned his rights, in a Copa del Rey match, which Recreativo won 1–0. Following an impressive first season in Spain, where the player played nearly 40 official matches, and scored 4 goals, Cáceres returned to Villarreal, but was instantly sold to Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona. He left without ever playing a match for Villarreal CF.

FC Barcelona

Cáceres joined FC Barcelona on June 4, 2008, with a reported transfer fee of €16.5 million being paid to Villarreal. A buyout clause of €50 million was included in the deal, which runs through the end of the 2012 season.[2] Cáceres featured only sparsely during his first season at FC Barcelona due to both injury, and coaches choice. Even after his recovery, he was the fourth choice defender, behind the Catalan captain Carles Puyol, Rafael Márquez and Gerard Piqué. He picked up the first club trophy of his career as FC Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao in the 2009 Copa del Rey final. A few days later, his former club Villarreal defeated Real Madrid C.F. which meant that Barcelona had won the league. He was also on the substitutes bench, as Barcelona defeated Manchester United to win the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final, completing The Treble. Despite a trophy filled season, Cáceres managed no more than 13 league appearances, without scoring. He was linked with a transfer away from the club throughout the summer of 2009, and in August, he transferred to Italian and fellow European powerhouse Juventus F.C..
[edit]

Juventus

On August 6, 2009, FC Barcelona announced his loan to Juventus F.C. with the option to make his stay permanent at the end of the 2009–10 season for €11 million plus €1 million in variable payments.[3][4] Cáceres made his Juventus debut in a pre-season friendly against former team Villareal CF the following day, replacing Jonathan Zebina at right-back at half-time.[5]

The 2009–10 season began well for Cáceres as he made a goal-scoring Serie A debut, scoring the opening goal in a 2–0 win against Lazio. Under Ciro Ferrara, he made the right back position his own and quickly became a fan favourite. Unfortunately, his season was disrupted by a number of injuries and was ruled out for several months after picking up an injury in January.
[edit] Back to Barcelona

In 2010 his loan to Juventus ended.

Man Utd boss Ferguson says Hernandez already worth £21M

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes they could now sell Javier Hernandez for £21 million.

The Mail on Sunday says Ferguson believes Hernandez has already trebled in value since he was signed for £7million before the World Cup.

The former Chivas star has been a revelation since joining United this summer.

This has to be the funniest shit going around, there is NO WAY that kid is worth anywhere near 21mil. The Cunt is deluded

He's giving confidence to a young, promising player.

I think you're taking him a bit too seriously.

Whilst I might agree, Milner did go for £26m , so he must have been, so who knows in these strange times.
It is strange that Milner can command £26m, at the same time people are trying to steal Mascher off us , a world class player in his own right, and Captain of Argentina for under £ 20m

It's ludicrous if one simply compares the two players, but otherwise I'm not sure it's that hard to fathom, what with Citeh having money to burn and us being in completely the opposite position.

From Sky Sports:

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed he would like funds to strengthen his Reds squad.

The Merseysiders have been busy in the transfer market this summer with the likes of Joe Cole, Christian Poulsen, Brad Jones, Danny Wilson, Milan Jovanovic, and Jonjo Shelvey all joining. However, the ex-Fulham boss knows that with just one week left before the transfer window closes, the time left to strengthen is not the best period in which to splash the cash.

Hodgson does not believe he has fully assessed the talent and potential in the club's squad and academy and is against making a big-name signing if they already have a gem ready to be unearthed.

"I'd like some money to spend if I could research where that money could be spent wisely," said Hodgson. "Giving me a lot now and telling me to go out and buy some players with one week of the transfer window left would not be particularly advantageous. I've only been here for five weeks or so and I'd want to make sure I had assessed absolutely everyone, including those at the academy, just in case we have an outstanding 17-year-old. We might have a Javier Hernandez there so I don't want to go out and spend £50million on buying another one."

Meanwhile, Hodgson sees no reason why Monday night's opponents Manchester City cannot win the Premier League title this season. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are expected to be the front-runners for the prestigious crown, although City have once again spent big this summer.

Just last week Roberto Mancini added to his ranks even further with the additions of Mario Balotelli and James Milner and Hodgson thinks City's star-studded squad can finish top come May.

"I see no reason why they should not win the league," he continued. "Chelsea did it and they were nothing like title contenders when Roman Abramovich took over the club. Blackburn, too, did it with Jack Walker, who came to a club who were never winning anything. They bought Alan Shearer, Chris Sutton, Tim Sherwood and...suddenly they were champions. I'm sure Manchester City will be devastated not to finish in the top three and qualify for the Champions League because so much money has been spent. The pressure for the manager is to make the players gel. That is always the same at a new club. We have the same situation at Liverpool, except we haven't much money"

What's the friggin skinny on this Suso character? Any clips?

You lads keep mentioning him and I'd never heard of him until a week ago.

Unearthing a 17 year old? I wonder if Roy has Susu in mind.

'Susu' is milk in Malay. 😉

Wow, in English it means "initiate legal action for monetary recompense, initiate legal action for monetary recompense".

He's clever is Roy, I like the last bit where he talks up City and puts the pressure on Mancini.

And although he uses the Rafa ploy of "we haven't got much money in comparison", at least he's got reason to, ie he's spent less than £5m. Rafa said it after squandering fucking millions.

He's probably winding me up, but my Spurs mate is telling me that there's a good chance that Robbie Keane might be coming back to Anfield on loan.

Alberto Aquilani will undergo a medical in Turin today before completing his season-long loan move to Juventus, while Diego Cavalieri’s switch to Cesena is poised to be made formal.

Liverpool are ready to step up their attempts to make a double swoop for PSV Eindhoven pair Ola Toivonen and Carlos Salcido.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson has been tracking the Mexican left-back and the Swedish striker, as he looks to plug the gaps in his squad.

And last night Academy ambassador Kenny Dalglish flew to Holland to watch them in action at the Phillips Stadion, as PSV beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1.

Salcido was an unused substitute but Toivonen played for 82 minutes before being replaced by Ibrahim Afellay.

Hodgson himself watched Toivonen in action 12 days ago when the 24-year-old scored as Sweden beat Scotland 3-0 in Stockholm.

Toivonen began his career with his hometown club Degerfors, then moved on to Orgyrte before making his name at one of Hodgson's old sides, Malmo.

A towering presence with an eye for goal - he has scored 38 times in 49 appearances for PSV - Hodgson has identified the 6ft 4ins Toivonen as the man he wants to provide cover for Fernando Torres.

Liverpool were today refusing to comment on the matter but sources in Holland have confirmed that a bid has been tabled for Toivonen; a swap deal for Ryan Babel, however, is not an option.

What's more, PSV boss Fred Rutten also appears to have accepted that Toivonen is heading for the Reds when he said: "I can't block the transfer."

It is also understood that there is a definite interest in Salcido, who impressed for Mexico when they played England at Wembley in May.

Though predominantly left-footed, Salcido is versatile and can play in the centre of defence or as a right-back.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's position on Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano has not changed despite speculation emerging again over the weekend about their respective futures.

Kuyt continues to be linked with Inter Milan and Barcelona are monitoring Mascherano's position but Liverpool insist neither man is for sale.

Hmm, is he trying to hint to us something that we dont know? Or am i just taking his words out of context

He seems to contradict himself a bit there with that quote. What's he asking for? He says he wants money but then says he only has a week which could lead to panic buying. I know it's not been ideal with players coming back late from the WC and players linked with moves, but still, he should have an idea of what he needs. ie, a LEFT BACK AND A STRIKER!!!

Unless he's looking for clarification over funds and whether a takeover is THAT forthcoming.

Without time to see them play? What? Just go out and sign the targets you've identified during you're long summer of scouting you saggy faced bellend!

Yeah- he was at the WC- he fucking knew by that stage he was top banana for LFC. Fucking put on the scouting hat you incontinent old goat.

Stop trying to remember where you left you glasses, they're on your fucking head Roy. Now fuck off and sign some fucking players you walking corpse.

Stop reading that burial insurance plan as advertised by June Whitfield and fucking check out some fucking young talent, Roy.

Stop farting quietly then acting all innocent and shit as the room fills up with your honk get on your electric buggy and get down the lower league clubs!

Stop trying to figure out how to use that DVD player Roy, it's not gonna happen. You need to go and see the fucking players, now fuck off and do it you walking skin surplus.
