Recreativo Huelva
Cáceres transferred to Recreativo Huelva in August 2007, just prior to the 2007–08 season, where he continued to play as a defender for the Andalusia side. On January 9, 2008, Cáceres scored a vital goal against Villarreal CF, the team that owned his rights, in a Copa del Rey match, which Recreativo won 1–0. Following an impressive first season in Spain, where the player played nearly 40 official matches, and scored 4 goals, Cáceres returned to Villarreal, but was instantly sold to Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona. He left without ever playing a match for Villarreal CF.

FC Barcelona
Cáceres joined FC Barcelona on June 4, 2008, with a reported transfer fee of €16.5 million being paid to Villarreal. A buyout clause of €50 million was included in the deal, which runs through the end of the 2012 season.[2] Cáceres featured only sparsely during his first season at FC Barcelona due to both injury, and coaches choice. Even after his recovery, he was the fourth choice defender, behind the Catalan captain Carles Puyol, Rafael Márquez and Gerard Piqué. He picked up the first club trophy of his career as FC Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao in the 2009 Copa del Rey final. A few days later, his former club Villarreal defeated Real Madrid C.F. which meant that Barcelona had won the league. He was also on the substitutes bench, as Barcelona defeated Manchester United to win the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final, completing The Treble. Despite a trophy filled season, Cáceres managed no more than 13 league appearances, without scoring. He was linked with a transfer away from the club throughout the summer of 2009, and in August, he transferred to Italian and fellow European powerhouse Juventus F.C..

Juventus
On August 6, 2009, FC Barcelona announced his loan to Juventus F.C. with the option to make his stay permanent at the end of the 2009–10 season for €11 million plus €1 million in variable payments.[3][4] Cáceres made his Juventus debut in a pre-season friendly against former team Villareal CF the following day, replacing Jonathan Zebina at right-back at half-time.[5]
The 2009–10 season began well for Cáceres as he made a goal-scoring Serie A debut, scoring the opening goal in a 2–0 win against Lazio. Under Ciro Ferrara, he made the right back position his own and quickly became a fan favourite. Unfortunately, his season was disrupted by a number of injuries and was ruled out for several months after picking up an injury in January.
[edit] Back to Barcelona
In 2010 his loan to Juventus ended.
