This Summer, maybe more than ever, there is going to be a rush by Europe's, including the PL's, top teams to get the players in they need to 'complete' their 'perfect' 1st teams (not talking about squaddies here). Even allowing for the increased financial might of the PL for many it's not going to happen because of a) the World Cup and b) inflated prices due to the same.

So who needs what (for their 1st teams), who are they going to go for and how good are their chances of securing said players ?

Some possibilities below, feel free to add/delete, especially if you are fan of a top European side. Regardless, as you can see, there is going to be plenty of competition amongst just the clubs below without even considering Europe's heavyweights :

United : LB, CB, DM, at least 1 MF (inc. wing), 3rd striker if Hernandez leaves.

Liverpool : LB, CB, possible DM, MF (wing) 3rd Striker

Chelsea : LB, RB, CB, 2x Strikers

City : CB, RB perhaps ? Incredible squad and 1st team already.

Arsenal : New Manager (I just have the feeling that Wenger himself will call it a day). CB, RB, DM, at least one Striker

Spurs : New Manager. New Defence. New Attack.

Everton : With the potential loss of their loanees and raids from other PL teams for established stars ... a lot !

Given that we're probably gonna become a moneyball team, because we don't have rich Arab backers and need to buy and sell wisely, I'm wondering what will happen if Sturridge is a big hit during the world cup e.g. scores 5 or 6 goals and PSG or Real Madrid etc came in with a £35m-£40m bid. I'm not convinced that our American owners would turn down that type of "profit".

I would think he's worth more than 40m now based on his scoring record. Probably would take 50m for us to want to sell. Suarez is in the 100m bracket now.

I don't get why people think the Henry and co would sell their best assets ... Look at how they manage the BoSox ...

30 goals in 38 is Ibra standard

£70M

I'm not sure they will, I just wouldn't be that surprised if they do accept a huge offer for a player. I'm fairly confident we'd replace them though. I'm more confident in our ability to buy the right players than I have been in 20 years.

I concur -

I can see them selling players they don't think are critical to the overall picture ... but I cannot see them selling the keys to our success, unless a) the offer is mind boggling (i.e. Madrid's offer for Bale) and b) they have replacements lined up that are as good.

Sturridge will not score 5-6 goals in 3 games for England against Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica.

Suarez is Ballon dÓr material.
He cannot be replaced.
Real's bid will easily hit 120m+ if we play hardball and we would still do better by keeping him.

I don't think BR is eager to tear up this team, maybe only 2 or 3 players coming in.
