Thats’s the problem with FFP - it’s measured retrospectively.
The problem is, FFP wasn’t an attempt to create fairness or a level playing field - it may have started like that, but it became a way to protect big clubs from other big clubs with deeper pockets.
The only way to make it actually fair would be to remove transfer fees and the ability to sell players, while giving each team in the league the same wages budget set a level that is commercially viable for the smallest team in that league.
Then you get rid of relegation and promotion.
The only way it works is if you have a closed league where all the teams are a similar size.
The minute City get away with their breaches, and they will, it’s open season for any club with the right backing (Saudi) to spend what they want.
