Thiagone?

According to absolutely awful sources, galatasaray are in for Thiago

Don't see this happening for various reasons, main one being Thiago wouldn't accept the move to a crappy league for less money.

Generally agree that it seems unlikely, but you never know. If he really is told that he won't be playing here (even on the rare occasions he isn't injured) then he might accept a downward move.

The preseason video shows him arriving at the training centre but not taking part in any drills or tests.

You could tell right away, wasn't exactly dressed for the occasion was he.

Probably see him start training again around Feb time.

It's likely we will need to pay any difference in his salary for him to go

I don't get why if he himself has agreed to accept lesser money?

He's been paid a handsome sum to essentially to up to turn 50% of the time, do players not carry any integrity these days?

If we want him to leave, it will smooth the process. I suspect that's how it is and why we often let players run down their contract.

Any transfer fee is offset by having to pay the difference in salary for the reminder of their contract with us

By the sounds of it, it not a matter of us just keeping him - it’s not as if there’s a large queue of teams trying to buy him - if he doesn’t want to go, we’re kind of hands tied.

He likely fancies one more year at the top in Europe, waiting to see how Saudi pans out, then he can maximise earnings for himself.

I’d love us to get some money for him, but I’m sure he’s happier to pocket it for signing on a free.

He’s not really done anything to warrant treating him like a cunt - so if he wants to honour the contract he signed - that’s fair.

Agreed. He could have taken the easier route and signed the contract extension at Bayern but he decided to join us convinced by Klopp's project. Have a lot of respect for him for that. His off the pitch behavior - interaction with fans, city, etc. has been great. Overall, a great guy to have around.

But at the same time, he is not a legend who has earned the right to leave his own way.

Pretty much with@peekay

Terrific footballer, brilliant linguist, class act on off pitch but just injured too much

@Modo the reason he wasn’t on the gym drills video is because he was the main player in the treatment room drills

Bit that is concerning me is the lack of third signing with the pre-season underway. I’d have hoped we would have all 3 sported and ready to go for day 1

I think those of us who want to keep him, and think so highly of him, are suffering from what many of us accuse Klopp of - which is attachment to specific players when they are past it. Admittedly we have not used Thiago wisely to get his best, but if I am honest - he bought him and kind of tried to use him in the early stages thinking Thiago is actually Thiago's father ( Mazinho) - anyone who remembers watching him from the 1994 world cup winning team, will immediately recognize that the way his father played is almost an identical duplicate of the way Klopp made Gini play. That said - I have heard many people on spaces make the argument that:

1) Selling the guy will not lead to us buying a better midfielder - even if the replacement is available for more games - I agree with this.
2) The fact that we have runners now in our new signings suggests we can use him, and rest him like we should have done - in the right way to get the best out of him.

Both of the above arguments are valid, but I think it's more of us being scared of the unknown. Personally, I think he is a fabulous footballer, someone the opposition will be wary of, but I have never fully trusted him in our team, and it goes back to when we thumped Bayern Munich 3-1 at their ground as part of our CL winning season. Honestly, I could not see the specific qualities that would make him someone who would be a good fit for us. For this reason, his unavailability in crucial moments of a season and the fact that we need some level of physical presence and dynamism in midfield for the re-build and for the future is more of a priority than clinging onto him in the hope that for 15/20 games in our season he will give us something special. He should really take the Saudi money and go.

£10m at best. 32 with injuries. We are dealing with Turkish clubs so it's going to be £3m.
I was all for selling him but if the only way to make more signings is through sales, then getting £3-5m Thiago isn't gonna do much, I'd rather just keep him He will see less games, so could be fit for more games as a result.
I'd sell Konate though, IF a club offered £80m. He played 18 league games last season due to injuries. I want someone more reliable. I'd happily sign Bastoni6

No way Klopp gonna sell Konate, but agree with keeping Thiago if all we get is 3M to 4M

Guess he was injured, my bad

Its the hip surgery at the end of last season. Was reported earlier today that he’s on schedule and will be fit for pre season I think.

Right. Turn that around. Pretend it's you. And?

Yeah of course I'll help out a filthy rich club (compared to most) and give you some of the salary back that you're contractually obliged to pay me.

Fab Hendo Thiago + Ox Milner Naby all leaving in the space of a few months?

It's like all our prayers and hopes have been answered.
