I Moustache You a Question

It's all relative of course.
But all I hear from you cunts is how we are going to get mullered by Spurs and Manchester City. FFS.
(Who by the way, are not the best teams in the league by a long shot.)
Realistic - is that we compete directly with these teams and that we stand at least a 50% or better shot at beating them. I have 100% confidence that we can*. It's not a fluke that we are where we are in the table right now. And it's about fucking time you all started acting like men around here and stopped being a bunch of humongous pussies.

*Unless we get twatted by Spurs this weekend.

I do feel better after someone pointed out the Spurs back 4 last match but I'll refrain from predicting that we're gonna fuck anyones shit up because we always play like 11 strangers when I do.

Yaya Toure said Liverpool were one of the toughest sides he faced last season, that also inspires confidence.

Joe Allen has his groove back, we'll be fine.

Perhaps some of the negativity shown is a self defence mechanism, borne of years of bewilderment and frustration?

Personally I think we are competitive with Spuds, Citeh and Chelski not least because none of them have been consistent this time out.

It's dead simple, Citeh are awesome at home and we are average away plus we have lost Studge, Stevie and are playing with a 2 year old at left back

It's not going to be pretty

Sent from a mobile device - apologies for any crap

Its not a fluke that we are where we are in the table, you're right, we are where we are because we've only played three top teams so far. The next three weeks will make it break our season, and unfortunately we are looking quite brittle.

That's exactly what it is.

But you leave my self defence mechanism alone *clutches insecurity to his chest, like a blanky*

What's REALLY weird is people thinking what we say now, one way or another, actually affects subsequent results.

I think all it takes is for our players not to do silly mistakes and we are sound.

Unfortunately, silly mistakes is exactly our problem.

I think this is it Judge, but I do think it's over played at times. We beat a big side and everything seems a bit too reserved, people start pointing to games where we've lost points, players who don't quite cut it, etc. When we get beat we're "years behind" these teams and all that bollocks. Certain posters on here said that Kenny had put us back 5 years, now we're 2nd within 18 months in the thick of it, competing with the big(ger) spenders. You can't predict jack shit, just know that as a club, we've done well to stay within touching distance for so long. We might have had our ups and downs domestically, but we're still one of the most successful clubs THIS century, let alone what we did at our peak. Teams are still wary of us, and rightly so.

We were confident beyond belief against Arsenal and we got wiped.

We were worried against other sides and won, it works both ways, Arsenal have always been a side that have outplayed us, it happens. Like I said, I don't understand the hyper-negativity and lack of self belief, teams fear us too. I doubt Spurs will be saying to the themselves that they're going to twat us because Gerrard and Sturridge are out.

I think this it Judge. I think some of the willingness to underplay our teams effort is a psychological need to reduce expectation and soften the blow when a defeat or disappointment occurs.

Yep.
It doesn't hurt half as much when you're expecting it.

It does, surely. Saying "oh we'll probably get beat" is one thing. There's plenty of variables that effect how you feel about a result. Playing shit and getting beat, playing shit and winning. Playing well and winning, playing well and getting beat. Being robbed by a cunt of a ref, seeing a sublime individual performance or just appreciating a good game between two sides that could have gone either way.

I can never tell myself we're going to get beat, and then shrug it off when it happens. If we play a good side and we're shit, I'll be angry. If we give a good account of ourselves and get beat, then I'll be pretty pissed off too.

Yep it's basically a double edged sword.
No matter what people say deep down you expect Liverpool to win.
It's probably the same with 90% of fans across the world.

Don't listen to Dirty Sanchez people. Only by projecting a focused beam of negativity can this game be won.

No-one said that anyone thinks it affects the actual result Macca.
I said that it's just ridiculous the amount of fear we all display on here regarding an outcome that we cannot affect. So why not just go in 100% positive instead of acting like a bunch of cry babies? We are a good team, with good chemistry and no one is about to fuck our shit up.

It's getting boring hearing about how twatted we are going to be by fucking Spurs FFS.

Lest not forget how they totally bummed us in the transfer window too, how could we forget the daily threads asking why we weren't Spurs.
