We stood off them far too much for my liking in the 1st half , seemed a real sense that we were a little scared of them and wanted to be cautious . I guess many will argue that is fair enough but at Anfield we normally never see that for big games , we normally try to get at them and dictate play . But we took more and more control as the game went on and were unlucky not to win it at the end.

I'm not too disappointed with the result , the Swansea and Norwich results will hurt us alot more as the season goes on than this. But there are still obviously alot of things to work on , we're clearly not at City's level and christ knows if we'll ever be . sigh !

In fairness to henderson ( i watched him alot closer this half to see what i was missing in the 1st) he wasn't too bad. Neat and tidy , some decent movement . I still don't get the feeling he's ever going to really influence a game though , he doesn't look like he has the self belief to do so .

Downing wasn't total , total shite but again you don't feel he'll do something to win you the game . Overall though he's been crap for us .

Downing improved in the second half. He was direct and attacked with pace. He does have a habit of ballooning his shot at times but it was a positive game from him. Henderson drifted in and out. He has the raw materials to be a good players but still isn't impacting games enough.

Carroll got one decent delivery and was only a wonder save from Joe Hart away from winning the game for us. The two best keepers in the league faced each other today, both top notch.

Lucas was a monster in the middle. He put Yaya on his arse a few times, made forward incisive passes and joined in with attacks. He's great to win his 50/50 headers although in the past he has shown he isn't as effective with his headers on goal but he can work on that.

On balance we deserve to win. We had more chances, their goalie had more blinding saves.

However if we play like this for the rest of the season, I have higher hope for a 4th position.

I really have problem with opponents putting on man of the match performances against us.

has Neil commented on Lucas yet

thrilled and disappointed that this was wizzys first game. fantastic performance and atmosphere, but just missing the result

With the way we've played the last couple of games, I'm starting to feel positive about where we're going for the first time in a while.
Lucas (I've often been his biggest critic) has turned into an amazingly good player in that position. Suarez caused havoc.

I still think Henderson's so bloody ordinary.

Henderson is an embarrassment, frankly.
Yeah, basically.
I thought he was good?

So we've matched up well against two of the best sides in the league, whats the odd's we lose v Fulham next week?

Mario was unlucky to get the second yellow imo.

I'm very disappointed with the result. We should have won it.
We just drew with the league leaders, that hasn't lost a single domestic game, that was built with magnitudes more money and resources. Jeez, we would've bitten anyones hand if a draw was offered at the beginning.

Some perspective, yes?
I wouldn't have taken a draw at the start. Once again we've failed to win a game in which were by far the better side
Who are you kidding??

I wouldn't have taken a draw at the start either but your woefully inadequate description of a great effort by Carroll was awesome in its bias.

Then to say we were "by far the better side" - did you actually watch the game. They gave as good as they got and looked the most likely for the first 25 minutes of the second half.
I don't get what exactly you want me to say when describing Carroll's header, the big lump bit was quite obviously in jest. I mean its hardly ground breaking when a big centre forward wins the ball powerfully in the air and forces the keeper into a great save.

As for the game itself I did think that once we got the equaliser we were the better side borne out by the fact we had twice as many shots on and off target as they did

Where's our killer instinct?

If we can turn our home draws into wins, we'll shoot up the table.

3 fucking minutes.... im bloody livid there was easily 5 maybe 6 minutes added time.

Anyways it was a great match we started poorly but 2nd half we should jave 3 or 4. Hart was top draw, lucas was a monster, im pretty gutted with the score we could of/should of won that..

Indeed. He worked hard and at least got himself stuck in. Hard to see how he's an embarrassment?

Weird comment.

All this embarresing talk about our players really annoys me.

Itandje was an embarrasment.

First time in his career were Kuyt hasnt scored before december. God we could have needed some goals from him.

For me one of the only Liverpool-players ever beeing guilty of the embarrasment-tag was Diouf at Celtics.

Henderson has done absolutely NOTHING to get that kind of disrespectful comments thrown at him.

In my opinion.

No it isn't. Kenny Dalglish spent 16 million pounds on him. That's embarrassing. As is the 35 million he spent on Carroll. It was a shocking transfer window really.

You know this how? Psychic? Inside info? Or the same old shit that the papers spew? Nobody knows the exact dealings of our transfers, and even if they do it's not a player's fault he was bought/sold for x. As far as I'm aware Commolli is our DOF and ultimately has the final say. We decide who to go for based on scout reports, positions needed and then stats to the point of backing up reports and looking to the future. We spent £16M (or thereabouts) for Hendo because of what he will provide for the next 5 years (while he reaches his actual level), not what he'll do in his first year, at a big club, at the age of 21. Oh and Carroll was the previous window!

Get a god damn grip!

I didn't say it was Henderson's fault. I don't lay any blame at his door. He just isn't good enough, that's all. And whoever sanctioned the deal, be it Dalglish, Comolli, or whoever, should be feeling embarrassed.

And I have a grip, thanks. You're the one flapping your arms about.

I missed the lineup at the start and the first 2 mins of the game.

It was the 35th minute before I realised that Henderson was playing.

It's not embarrassing, it's just that he, like Kuyt, Downing & Carroll aren't contributing enough end product at the moment.

We might be feeling slightly bullish about the transfers of Carroll, Henderson and Downing, well some of us anyway, but they're drawing more than a few sniggers from neutrals. I don't know if I'd go as far as to use the word embarrassing, but it's very difficult to defend some of these transfers.

I can see some raw talent in Henderson actually. He looks good on the ball and that buys him time with me. He's young and I'll wait and see how it pans out.

Downing I didn't want and I've seen very little to make me think I was wrong. He doesn't add much in the way of cutting edge or goal threat and for 16-20M, whatever we paid, we should've gotten more for our money.

As for the Carroll situation, it is just getting more and more worrying.

Great against great teams, shit against shit teams. Same old, still worried but I thought City would batter us so the performance was awesome and impressive. But the result was bittersweet.
