[article=http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/from-spain-perez-gets-real-madrid-s-70m-bid-for-luis-suarez-ready]Not so long ago whilst the British media were talking of record breaking bids from Real Madrid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez, the more reliable among Spain's press pack were claiming that wasn't the case at all. El Confidencial and others insisted most of the running was coming from the other direction, with Pere Guardiola offering his client to Madrid president Florentino Perez twice.

Whilst that would rightly cause irritation among Liverpool supporters it was nothing big to worry about because Madrid weren't greatly interested, Perez's dream target remained Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and if he couldn't get him then he wasn't going to throw everything at a second choice.

Well, things have apparently changed.

Perez, stung by Madrid's La Liga collapse, has held a meeting over targets and Luis Suarez is making his way up the list. Madrid know they'd have to pay a minimum of €70m and that doesn't appear to be too much of a worry as they plan to bring income from sales this summer.

The club president is starting to give up on Aguero because Manchester City's owners have shown signs of throwing an almighty strop if another serious approach is made and, just like with PSG and Bayern Munich, Madrid don't want a fight with the Manchester City money men.

El Confidencial say Madrid would use Suarez's will to join them as a lever and, if that isn't as strong as it might be, they'll walk away.

So, Madrid are prepared to pay €70m for Suarez, which is a worry for Liverpool, but they still don't appear to be absolutely desperate for the player. [/article]

70m euros wouldn't buy his left peg, Madrid can swivel if they think we'll let him go that cheaply and even more so if we do it before the World Cup where his stock will only rise

[article=http://miusoccer.com/liverpool-to-be-part-of-stunning-40-million-plus-player-move-this-summer/47860]Liverpool to be part of stunning £40 million-plus-player move this summer

Spanish giants Real Madrid are plotting a January move for Luis Suarez by offering Liverpool £40million plus Karim Benzema, according to the Daily Mirror Website.

But the Uruguayan has his heart set on a move to Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid and the Spanish giants hope offering Liverpool a big-name replacement for Suarez plus cash will tempt them to sell.

Madrid value Benzema at £40m, making the overall package worth around £80m.

The French striker has been told he can leave Madrid after falling down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Never been that impressed with Karim, lazy and misses too many chances considering how many Madrid create (although stats may say otherwise)

Coo, so that's all Henry needs to do.

If he wants to move on, we need 70 million pounds, Isco, Di Maria & Moratta.

I don't think you're being realistic.
If he wants to leave we will probably not be able to stop him this summer, as there probably is some clause in his contract. That will make our hand weaker as far as the fee is concerned, and 70 million pounds, Isco, Di Maria & Moratta is probably more than we can expect.
Di Maria had an amazing season for Madrid, so I can't see them selling him.

I'm hoping the release clause is higher than Bale's fee ...

I'd take money and Varane and one of either Isco or Di Maria. Varane can hardly get a game at the moment right? And if we don't get Ashley Cole then maybe try for Contreau?

Weren't his wages astronomical if we qualified for the champs league or something? In which case, I can't see us keeping him and creating a ticking wage time bomb revolt from many of our other players. Sure, they won't expect his wages, but they no doubt see what he's on and want a whole lot more than they are currently on. The same can be said for any newcomers.
A decent early bid and a chance to keep the wage bill in check will see the board let him go IMHO.
If he wants to go for the right fee and if the bid is early enough for us to get the right replacements in, then I can see him leaving.
I don't think the World Cup will add an awful lot more to his stock as there are only a few suitors out there who could afford him and they already know what he capable of. He has been phenomenal this season already.
If he were to go, I'd rather let him go sooner so we have more time to find the right replacements.

@LeTallecWiz I'd be very surprised if it is that high.
I'd love him to stay and be very sad if he leaves. BUT, he's given us a fantastic season helping us back into CL and a real title challenge.
If he was promised he could leave this summer and he wants to go to Madrid, then we should let him go.
I really hope he likes it here and decides to stay.

After CL footy was confirmed the clause increased apparantly.
If they want to sign him it will be for a new world record fee.
He wont leave imho.

Well I reckon it's clear we lashed 100m in there. Both Rodgers & Henry threw that figure to the press in inteviews, they don't do that by accident.

Suarez has never been happier in his personal and professional life. He may have wanted to join Real but that ship has sailed. I can't see it happening now. We are building something great here and Suarez himself saw the immense strides we have taken this season. Missing out on the premiership title will fire the lads up for another go. Bring in the right players and we're will win silverware. Its that simple.

On the off chance that Suarez opts to leave, 82M pounds + Isco/Varane would be the only deal I would consider. Lets face it, Suarez is better than Bale and his value must reflect that. He is worth 100M pounds to us and we should set the valuation.

I have heard the 100m figure quoted on TV but it was euro so that would be just over £80m.
Personally I reckon if a bid of that size came we would take it.

In any negotiation with Real, we must play hard ball. They screwed us over too many times. Real have the financial muscle to pay what we want so we must stick to our guns. We need a hard nosed negotiator who will get the maximum for our players.

They both mentioned it in interviews within a week of each other, in the context of 'we're not selling, but if an offer came in it'd have to be 100m to not be insulting'.

This was before we went on our run, I assume the club were sensibly getting that figure out there, preempting the possibility that we didn't qualify for the cl & he'd want off. Levy did a similar thing with bale & it worked, so it's understandable & was the right call at the time imo.

Article discredited, due to inability to comprehend the calendar & seasons ... unless it was written by DB or Ryan, in which case there is a hemispherical error.

If he's going get the money and spend it how we wish. I don't want any Real Madrid castoffs or bit part players.
