anyone see that john barrowman show on the beeb last night about him trying to get a scientific reason to why he is gay.

It was very interesting, first he looked at was it a nature or nuture thing, was it his parents fault?

Then they looked at DNA to see if there is a gay gene and lastly they tried to blame it on having older brothers, apparently the more older brothers you have the more likely you are to be gay.

A typical example of todays society looking for something to blame for any of your own actions.

its a 3 parter, worth a look I think.

He wants the experts to confirm that you become gay in the womb down to low testosterone levels so its not his fault.

I have an ex boss who is gay and openly admits he hates it and wishes he wasn't.

I'd be surprised that they are upset as to their sexual orientation but more to the fact that a large proportion of society is still homophobic and sexual preferences hold such a social stigma. If that is taken out of the equation I can't see how they would hate it.

my old boss who I am still mates with says he would rather have been straight due the the fact he would love to have the husband wife and 2.2 kids thing, he doesn't like being different, thats up to him.

Of course society still makes it hard for gay folk but surely its better to be gay today than previous gernerations.

In the show there was a gay fella who "turned straight" he stopped seeing men and got married and had two kids. He said its no different to avoiding chocolate which he knows is not good for him in his life.

Obviously the main reason many heterosexual people see homosexuality as a fault is because it is deemed "against gods word" (god is a cunt btw) but I think some heterosexual people (and a few homosexual) see being gay as a fault because of the guilt feelings many homosexuals seem to harbour through not attaining socio-sexual "norms". In an incredibly hypothetical scenario, if being gay could be "cured" by gene therapy how many homosexuals would seek to be "cured"? I guess it would be a large minority of them which is quite sad but would illustrate my guilt theory.

There will always be a debate on homosexuality whether it is Nature (gene, etc) or Nurture (environment, upbringing etc).

If one believe it is Nature, one cannot change sexual orientation, just like one cannot change one's race, colour or stature.

If one believe it is Nurture, one can choose one's sexual orientation. I believe homo sexuality is a preference.

I am not saying it is anyone's fault. There, my tuppence today.

I don't know this place, you try to talk about an interesting subject which is worth a scientific debate and all folk can talk about is the words you use to start the debate.

If being a homophobe means you would not socialise with very openly gay person who behaves in a very openly gay way, whether thay is the way they dress, walk or talk then YES I am a homophobe.

My good mate who is gay has been to my wedding, stag weekend and chrsitenings of my kids, he and his boyfriend have been to my house many times BUT and here is the big BUT.... They have never kissed or canoodled in front of me or my other mates and unless they told you, you would never know they are gay, the most they have done is hold hands, which is fine.

He knows I am not a fan of the really obvious openly gay folk and he knows I would never go to a gay bar or be willing to stand next to two fellas snogging.

So what !!! isn't that the opinion of most straight men, gay men can do what they want but I would not want to ever see two fellas being passionate to each other and my friend agrees and out of respect he never does that in front of any of us.

John and Andy and 4i( bandwagon jumper) must be more tolerant than me and all my mates as they would feel very upset of two fellas starting kissing in front of them as well.

Only kidding, I admit "fault" should of been "choice" but thats how I remember the TV show. I never suiggested that saying I had a gay mate was like saying I cannot be racist because I have a black mate, that was other folks comparisum.

Everything else I have said I stand by, I could never be in a place where two fellas are kissing, sorry if that is incorrect in your PC eyes forum folk.
