When we were in the Champions League and my kids used to collect the stickers one on them said to me one day 'Who do you think the heaviest player in the entire CL is, dad?'

And I didn't know, but you can guess the answer.

It's one thing being 14 stone when you're 25. But not when you're 29. And I doubt he's still 14 stone. Most keepers get better with age. I reckon the reason that he's been crap for a while is his weight. It probably benefitted him when it was muscle, but that was a long time ago now.

Remember last season when keeper after keeper would come to Anfield and get man of the match for saving their team from certain defeat? When was the last time Reina did that? He saves what he's meant to, most of the time, but makes howlers regularly and never goes the extra mile that he did a few years ago. Never saves us, as top keepers are supposed to.

Meh. You all love him. Whatevers.

He used to be special. Now he isn't. In fact his form has closely followed the trajectory of the club as a whole.

I hate kneejerk threads, but he hasn't been good enough for a while. Far too many mistakes, and as Woland says, not enough games where he has earned us a point or points through a fantastic performance.

It's not knee-jerk, I had the a debate the other night on here about how he could possibly be in the Spain squad.

I made the thread on another forum and the consensus was that he's a decent cheerleader and he doesn't play anyway.

I thought it needed a thread coz he doesn't half divide opinion in the pub.

He has not been at his best for a few years now. Wasn't there speculation about him wanting to leave a few years ago, but probably nobody would pay anywhere near what we do? Could this have coincided with this drop in performance?

I'm not having a go woland. I just think in the aftermath of a bad mistake is a time when views can be skewed. As I went on to say though, I think your criticisms are justified.

For me it's been 2 years since he's lost that air of reliability, maybe more, but the arsenal match where he dropped the ball to Chamakh sticks in my head.

Lot's of little mistakes are there too that lead to bigger mistakes.

the worrying thing is that he knows he's been poor , he made comments at the end of last season confirming it , but he hasn't been able to improve himself . Something is obviously wrong , i just hope it's fixable because as Woland said , when was the last time he actually put in a top performance . And christ i might lose it if he continues letting goals in where he doesn't even move.

It's no knee-jerk reaction. He's been dodgy for the last few seasons.

Yeah I know, I was just explaining, it's not just coz he was shit tonight.

He's not been the same since Rafa left, arguably since Alonso left.

I'd take £10-15M for him, I think we've had his best.

Reina isn't as good as he was, that doesn't mean hes shit, we can't replace him for better, so it's a bit of a non issue.

It will be a non issue if we start finishing our chances. If not, it's going to come up throughout the season.

He'll get the season before making a judgement on him. Was very good in posession today, just needs to get past the gaffs.

@Woland: I think he means his distribution. I have to say I can't remember the last time I saw a keeper receive that many back passes.

So you're saying there wont be a better goalkeeper available this summer or next, anywhere?

Errmmm, this is like his 7th season with us? Think we've already formed our opinion of Reina.
