I'm seeing Scum getting 11 from their 5, Citeh 13 from their 5 so they'll finish with 75 and 78 respectively. Hence we can only afford one draw in our last 4

Not a bad result for us. I'd rather be two points ahead with a better goal difference than have a game in hand, if that game is Arsenal or Spurs sandwiched between two EL ties with a depleted squad. But we surely can't afford any more fuck ups.

Both Manchester teams will be less than happy after this game – City for their failure to break down the United defensive wall (is it just me, or does it look like Aguero's finishing abilities are possibly in a terminal decline? 9 shots today and only 2 on target and it's been like this too often this season) and United for enduring this kind of ultra-defensive performance – I bet this is not how the likes of Martial and Mkhitaryan imagined it would be playing for United. If any of United's potential summer recruits were watching, I think this was not a great advertisement, especially if you're an attacking player.

Aguero has scored 17 Premiership goals in only 26 appearances and 30 in all competitions so far this season

How are you defining 'terminal decline'?

Yeah, 11 or 12 points for the Scum. Which means it could end up on goal difference.

11 or 12 ? I'll be surprised if they make 10. Could easily be 8 or 9.

Mourinho - "I saw Aguero in the tunnel, no broken nose, no broken head....if he doesn't go to the floor, it's not a red card."

Aguero exaggerated the contact and fell to the floor like a cunt, but isn't any contact like that an automatic red card anyway?

He got what he deserved, the dopey fucker

Not a bad result, at all, The frequent fcuk up, unfortunately, is that Liverpool doesn't follow up this with three points.

To think we've just dropped 5 points at home against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace at this stage of the season. If we'd banked them, we'd be home and dry. Our form is so patchy at the moment, its hard to believe we are going to go on a run now but our next 2 games are absolutely massive given United and Arsenal's next few fixtures. I'm already bricking it for Monday.

Would it be that surprising if Swansea get a draw on Sunday?

Utd are the home draw specialists.

That's for set of fixtures they have, cannot see them getting many points.

Hopefully we see them bomb out of the EL and the challenge for fourth in the same week with defeats to Arsenal, Spurs and Celta.

I reckon it will come down to goal difference between us and Utd. Lucas clinching it in the 90th minute with his last ever touch as a Liverpool player before immediately signing for Rafa newly promoted Newcastle

I'm asking a question, not making a definitive judgement. Just seems that Aguero is less clinical than he used to be, shooting high and wide a lot, like he did in this game. But maybe it's just my impression.

Guess who else is this season?

Utd @ home: 17 games, 7 wins, 9 draws, 1 defeat; 23 scored, 11 conceded.
City @ home: 16 games, 8 wins, 7 draws, 1 defeat; 27 scored, 15 conceded.

Manchester City. Bar Southampton, no other club can potentially finish the season with more than 7 draws at home.

City's home draws have come against the likes of Everton, Southampton, Boro, Spurs, us, Stoke and United, and they have West Brom, Palace and Leicester yet to visit, all of which are very annoying to deal with for teams with special defences (like ours) and teams built for fancy-schmancy passing games.

So, I'm not as confident as others here in thinking that City is a slam dunk to finish 3rd. Arsenal might even run up a string of wins to claim that spot, because if we're still in the race, then so are they with their games in hand. The race for 3rd and 4th is still as clear as mud.

What's certain is that the fixtures and our rivals' flaws will mean there are more fuck ups to come that will give us lifelines to cement a top four place. We have to stop pissing them away.

Beat Watford.

Fellaini's a thick cunt and was always going to get sent off for that. However, Aguero is a fruit of the highest order for the theatrics, no respect for that.

I was glad Herrera missed a good chance, hate that shithouse.

Nah, I can't.

I stand by my half-theory that they'll go all out to win the EL and qualify that way.

I prefer my theory - that Utd go all out to win the EL, but don't and still fuck up in the league and miss out on CL again - while we finish fourth or higher - ideally third or higher.

I would very much like this to happen.

Am I the only one thinking a draw was a bad result for us. We'd be better off if United lost and their chances got killed off ASAP

Yep, because it happened to us last year.

Even picking up just 7 points we have a strong (61%) chance of top 4. People are greatly overrating how many points the other contenders will gain. History this season shows that the pessimistic estimates are unlikely to happen.

So according to the bookies (who generally make up those odds tables right) Liverpool could get Top 4 with as low as 7 points (61%). I'd like to see the tables for the other contenders.

It may not be far off. I can see 8-9 pts being enough. All 4 contenders for 3rd/4th have shown massive weaknesses this season and it's not going to suddenly come right for the last 4-5 matches.
Look at City's home record and they have 3 tough counter attacking teams. Look at United's fixture and injury lists (on top of having 4 critical games in 11 days), look at Arsenal and Liverpool's inconsistencies.

There are many twists and turns to come but I'd be surprised if City and Liverpool don't make Top 4 and United at least make the EL final putting all their eggs in that basket when push comes to shove.

United's Injury / Banned List

Fellaini
Pogba
Ibra
Mata
Jones
Smalling
Rojo
Mensah

To say nothing of the fact they are now like us - the bare bones playing every game they have.
