Is this really necessary everytime he scores?
Indeed it is.
9 in Serie A
3 in Champions League
6 for Italy

18 goals all up.

Good return. I remember being very intrigued about him when he first came through the ranks at Parma(?). He slipped off my radar a bit since then and didn't particularly impress at Milan by my recollection.

He came through the ranks at Verona and Piacenza - but made his mark at Parma.

His time at Milan wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't a failure - 1 goal every 3 games wasn't too bad.

Too much was expected from him in a Milan side that was by no means the side it was in the first half of the decade... add to that the departure of Shevchenko and Tomasson and the mediocre signing of Ricardo Oliveira.

Too much politics at Milan - plus, the circus at board level with Galliani and Berlusconi.... his apparent lack of goal scoring was only highlighted because Milan were conceding far to many goals - again, Galliani and Berlusconi didn't invest in their defensive stocks + Dida woeful.

Prandelli has given him a new lease of life at Fiorentina - no coincidence that Prandelli was responsible for Gilardino's prolific form at Parma by the way.

He'll be an integral part of the national team at the World Cup.

Haha I can't wait for the cunt to retire. It'll finally put an end to this thread.

Gotta admire the dedication, though, Roops. I prefer your Lost updates, though.

Alberto Gilardino has cast aside rumours of his departure by insisting: “I want to win something with Fiorentina.â€
The striker was speaking at the presentation of his autobiography in Florence, so interrupted the media silence imposed by the club.

“I have already won so much in my career and would love to win something with Fiorentina sooner or later.â€

The chances are limited next season, as the Viola have failed to qualify for Europe.

Gilardino is among several top figures rumoured to be leaving the side this summer along with Sebastien Frey, Adrian Mutu and Coach Cesare Prandelli.

“I am not yet 28 and am still hungry for success,†assured the 2006 World Cup winner whose contract expires in June 2013.

Nice poachers goal.
Amazes me just how many of his goals are poached - very Pipo Inzaghi & van Nistelrooy like... he's at his most effective when he is playing with proper wingers.

Goal against Palermo yesterday
