Alberto Gilardino has cast aside rumours of his departure by insisting: “I want to win something with Fiorentina.â€
The striker was speaking at the presentation of his autobiography in Florence, so interrupted the media silence imposed by the club.
“I have already won so much in my career and would love to win something with Fiorentina sooner or later.â€
The chances are limited next season, as the Viola have failed to qualify for Europe.
Gilardino is among several top figures rumoured to be leaving the side this summer along with Sebastien Frey, Adrian Mutu and Coach Cesare Prandelli.
“I am not yet 28 and am still hungry for success,†assured the 2006 World Cup winner whose contract expires in June 2013.
