Do we really need to spend £20m on a midfielder from the dutch league? I confess to knowing nothing about Strootman.

Lazio will offer Liverpool target Modibo Diakite a new deal to end interest from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.
Rodgers, mindful of the fact that Jamie Carragher is approaching the end of his career at the club, is on the lookout for defensive improvements.
Diakite, 25, is on his radar, although Serie A champions Juventus are also keen on him.
Lazio, though, have other ideas and club president Claudio Lotito is ready to hold talks over a new deal.
Diakite, recently back from a long term shin injury, is out of contract in the summer and Lazio want to move quickly to prevent him penning a pre-contract deal with anyone.

I'd be gutted full stop. I've been banging on about Fellaini ever since we played Liege in a qualifier in 2008.

He should have been ours.

Then again, Blackpool jouno....

@WillWatt: Tom Ince has NOT signed for Liverpool. There is no truth whatsoever in the stories saying he has.

Maybe he means done as in 'Done'
Not happening!

Anyway, some cunt needs to sign some cunt soon because im sick of seeing Swanson in his fucking ill fitting Burtons suit gleefully pointing out that 29.1m is more than was spent in January 2010.

We're linked to some 15 year old Croatian ...

http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/cal...si-sfidano-per-un-talento-croato-marko-dabro/

Rough transation via Google:

The duel between Juventus and Fiorentina continues in the youth market. In Croatia's Marko Dabro, considered a talent at home. It 'a striker Cibalia, class '97: playing in the Under 17 Croatian, is the youngest of the Croatian league to train with the first team. Despite his young age, has already attracted the attention of big in Europe. He is followed very closely by Liverpool and Chelsea, Fiorentina also made an offer. Now we test Juve, who made offer of 600 thousand euro. The Cibalia requests 2 million, Marko Dabro there is a row in Europe

Thomas Ince's return to Liverpool has edged a step closer after a deal was agreed with Blackpool.

Negotiations with the Reds and the Championship side had reached an impasse due to Tangerines chairman Karl Oyston attempting to hard bargain over the the 20-year-old winger's valuation.

Blackpool had hoped to command a fee in the region of £8 million for Ince, the son of former Liverpool and Manchester United legend Paul, but have since lowered their asking price.

Liverpool will be allowed to settle on their maximum £6 million outlay for the player, which will see them recoup £2.1 million as part of the pre-agreed 35% sell-on clause from the original deal that took him to Bloomfield Road 18 months ago for a mere £250,000 compensation package.

The England under-21 international will become Brendan Rodgers's second arrival in the transfer window, following Daniel Sturridge's £12 million capture from Chelsea last week.

I don't know enough about Strootman to know if this is a good deal. Is he 13 million pounds better than Yan M'Villa?

If true, a brilliant move by Ayre to let the player get cup tied before tying up the deal. The amateurism is incredible.
I'm the first to point out the shitty way our club is managed at board-room level but I think on this occasion it is the Blackpool chairman sticking to his price, we didn't pay so Ince plays. At least since BR took charge we appear to be showing a little self-respect when it comes to transfer negotiations; as opposed to the traditional way in which we give blank cheques to clubs and ask them to put down what they like!

The "Kevin" bit is basically Keegan's fault. When he went to Hamburg there was a mini-explosion of baby boys being named Kevin in Germany, and the name has spread across Europe since then. We may be about to sign one of its more recent victims, that Kevin Gameiro from PSG.

More generally, the Dutch have long had a habit of using Christian names from other countries for their kids, e.g. Pierre van Hooijdonk, Bryan Roy, Dennis Bergkamp.

I don't mind mental. Everyone agrees we need a robust, energetic DM with vision. M'Vila ticks all those boxes. A little bit of mental is good in a DM.

daddy having his say now ...

There's been a lot of press saying he's going to Liverpool. I've not at one time said he's going to Liverpool," the 45-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"Thomas has at not one time said he wants to leave Blackpool Football Club. I just feel that he's ready for the Premiership, whether that means he's going to go in January or that means he's going to go at the end of the season or the season after, who knows?

"I think he's ready to go and play in the Premiership, but there's no point in Thomas going to a Premiership club and not playing football, because that will just stunt his development.

"Where he goes, he has to have the chance to be involved and getting game time.

"If you said Liverpool, or Man United or Barcelona, there's no point in him going to those clubs if he's not playing football. For me, he might as well stay at Blackpool and keep playing week in and week out."

for the life of me i can't understand why either party really wants to make this move . Is he really going to improve us now or develop to the level we require ? Will he really keep the likes of sturridge , borini or sterling out of the team ?

and why would he want to move back here if he'll be a squad player at most ?

TBF he'd be coming home, in more ways than one. That can be a more powerful attraction for some players than we might imagine in this cynical world.

But I'm not sure he would be simply a squad player, no more than Borini or even Sterling anyway. Sturridge admittedly is likely to play more often than not, but under Rodgers even he's going to have earn his place.
