Lukaku is average, LTW, nowhere near worth that much. Just like Benteke who has been found put this season- unless playing against our unettled defence.

If Lukaku will be for sale, Dortmund might buy the next summer but only for the right price, Kloppo will convert him into another star to be poached by Bayern

If Chelsea have paid 20m for him then we've heard Mourinho mouthing off about having him signed & thought we'll make them pay a premium to prove it.

Good move.

If it's true that we have a value for players that we won't exceed then that's good, if, IF , that value is realistic, reflects the current market value & is not decided simply on our finances.

Agree up to a point, BUT we need a little flexibility around the figure we come up with. Losing a much needed target because of some relatively trifling difference in the two clubs' valuations is the kind of short-sighted nonsense from which we've suffered way too much in the past couple of decades.

How far do you go, though, and what is a trifling difference? Chelsea would still have offered more than Liverpool, I'll warrant. I wonder if Mourinho sees Salah at Liverpool having the much bigger impact than Salah at Chelsea or is that a conspiracy too far?

Fair questions both.

On the question of leeway over the fee, I'm not talking a huge difference. To put figures on it, I'd suggest up to a couple of million would be adequate room for manoeuvre - if we badly wanted a player, the price we had in mind was (say) £10 mill.and we were told that the bottom line was a sum less than £12 mill, I'd say pay it, though a greater difference than that would be too much.

As far as your second question goes, I'd say: almost certainly yes, Mourinho does see Salah as likely to have a bigger impact with us than he will with them. At this point our squad isn't as strong as theirs, so (provided Salah's ability is sufficient in its own right for a team at or near the top of the Prem), he's almost bound to make more of a difference here than he will at Stamford Bridge.

Guarin not in the Inter squad vs Catania today. Having seen the swap move to Juve fallen off, could he still be in the market?

Guarin isnt what we need.

The player we need moved this summer. Wanyama would have been perfect.

Defour doesnt really solve anything either.

Matuidi would be ace. City are rumoured to be offering him 8 mill sign on fee as he's a free transfer

Luke Shaw should look at how well magic has done out of coming to us as a career choice.

Bet he goes to chavs though to replace cole. Hate it.

[article=http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/26/thomas-ince-swansea-city-loan]Swansea City are expected to hold talks with Thomas Ince over a loan move after Blackpool announced the attacking midfielder had been granted the go-ahead to join a Premier League club.

Ince, who turns 22 on Thursday, is the son of the former England midfielder Paul Ince, who was recently sacked as Blackpool's manager. He has been linked with a host of clubs, including Swansea and Monaco, and was left out of Saturday's match against Doncaster Rovers.

Blackpool said on their website: "Blackpool Football Club can confirm that, following discussions with Thomas Ince and his representative, permission has been given for Thomas to discuss a loan move to a Premier League club.

"Thomas has expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League for the remainder of the season, a decision that the club fully understands and supports."

Ince has made 12 appearances for the England Under-21 side and is Blackpool's leading scorer with seven goals in the Sky Bet Championship this season.[/article]

Some money from the sell on clause for us?
