Rozzers, customs officers etc.do that "OK?" thing and yes, it is incredibly aggravating, much the same as that tic some people have of saying "Yeah?" every few words. It sounds as though they're taking the p!$$ ("I'm going to give you a £60 fine, OK?"), which may indeed be the intention at least some of the time, and frankly I don't blame those on the receiving end - knuckledraggers though they often are - for getting wound up by it
