[article]Joel Matip could come into contention for Thursday’s Anfield tie with Burnley, but Diogo Jota remains ‘a few weeks away’ from a return, Jürgen Klopp confirmed.

Jota’s rehabilitation from a knee issue is likely to continue into February.

Matips strength in the air will be a welcome boost for this game. As will adding Henderson back into the midfield. I wonder if Jones might get a run as he has had a few games off to rest.

I really can't think of a worse time to play a side who have defended solidly for 5 years, and love to love high balls up to the forwards and are strong at set pieces when both Fabinho and Henderson are shite in the air. It's got all the ingredients needed for dreary, frustrating shit show. There's only been 7 goals scored in Burnley's last six matches. Only Wolves managed to get 2 past them, with the rest either goalless or 1-0 or 0-1 either way. This will not be a game where it all 'clicks' and we look fluid and dangerous. It will require a moment of magic, i.e. the Matip to Mane goal to break them down.

This is why we should bring Phillips back in to deal with their aerial threat if Matip doesn't make it, Henderson at holding can then provide cover for Trent and Phillips, as he can cover Trent's defensive fuck-ups and be an easy outlet for Phillips, because he can't pass the ball for shit. Henderson then frees up Thiago and Shaqiri to roam and create. There's little need for Wijnaldum in games like this when we're short of goals and creativity. Klopp should trust Thiago and Shaqiri to use the ball aggressively but sensibly when required. We saw it against United, so give them a run of games to find some fluidity with the front three. I'd also advocate Mane at CF and Minamino wide left, but I'd be surprised to see it. Relying on Firmino to score or create anything is like a giving a dog a paint brush and expecting the Sisteen chapel ceiling to appear. It might happen in some parallel universe, but frequently not in this one.

Matip and Phillips

Then Thiago Hendo and Fabs in midfield

Mane Salah Origi up top.

Why move Fabs around when he should remain as first choice CB for the rest of this season? I think Phillips partnering him is a decent shout if Matip isn't ready.

Strange fact - despite not scoring for 3 and a half games we have still scored more than any other team in the Premier League.

Won't be easy this, but think we'll win 2-0.

Would definitely bring Phillips in if Matip doesn't make it.

[article]Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas have been named in Liverpool's matchday squad for this evening's fixture with Burnley at Anfield.

The Greek ain’t dead.

Is there an official rumoured team ahead of the official announcement, or did the club plug that leak when they exhumed Thiago?
