Whatdoes Dave Whelan think ?
Much as he annoys the fuck out of me playing for Utd, I'd take a look at Fabio as a potential right-back for us (given Johnson is likely to leave/be sold).
He's a bona fide attacking full-back with pace and aggression. His positioning/general defensive play needs to be improved with good coaching - but we've got one of the best coach/managers around and the lad is the right age to improve.
He'd combine really well with Sterling (who'd also offer him protection initially) on the right side.
You're talking about Rafael. Fabio is his brother, the left back.
As for taking a look at him, why? They are not going to sell him, least of all to us.
They may be going through a tough time but it's not like they've lost their minds (Moyes appointment aside).
It's my understanding that Rafael is considered to be part of their future along with guys like De Gea.
If they were somehow forced to sell, they still wouldn't sell to us.
Cheers Sean, you've changed my mind on Fabio now.
Most Man United fans I know see Rafael as nothing but a constant liability. Not for me thanks.
He was on course to be their player of the season last year, until he got injured.
Over Van Persie ? Can't see that somehow.
They need a Robson/Keane type in midfield, and I can't see them getting one, thank god.
If they get knocked out of the champions league, and then lose to city, they have nothing to lose sacking him. It couldn't really get that much worse if they put one of the players in charge. They'd still finish around 7th-8th. If they win one of those two games, then they might hold onto him. I suspect they'll go through in the champions league, and hopefully he'll keep his job. You watch the cunt lose both games and get the boot, ruining our master plan of him leading them to their ruin.
