The Donkey

My point wasn't anything to do with how he's rated. Or any other argument. It's just that goals per game stat is inherently fatally flawed when one player has played 90 mins and the other 15 mins. And yes all those other factors you mentioned are relevant but goals per min is still far a more accurate representation than GpG.
Totally agree - if any player has limited time and you compare him to other players who get full game time - it's really an accurate comparison of any kind. To even these this out - we need to do by minutes on pitch, and then a separate column to identify how many individual games those minutes are made from. If people then want to judge quality of opponents then those individual games representing the minutes need to split those games into the various competitions, and the minutes assigned to those specific games in those competitions. That would be deep analysis of course, but it will satisfy the Endo haters and Curtis Haters, and Gravy Haters.

In that case - Divock Origi has a better goals per minute average for Liverpool in the Premier League than Nunez.

So while I take you point - I don’t entirely agree with it.

Those Endo, Curtis and Gravy haters would likely be supporters of other teams - you’ll not find any on here.

Well… Donavan, maybe.

And Bluebell probably hates them because they’re stopping us from being able to sign more players from his list of all the players we haven’t already signed.

LOL !!! - I find it so exciting watching our team, it's unreal at times - I cannot remember a time where every component from top to back was so solid and full of ballers who are so well press-resistant. It's amazing what we can do in terms of rotation this season, can't wait for each game now - just count the days between games. Also even the ones that are regarded below standard - they add a bit of excitement which makes watching the team just ... oh man I feel giddy giddy right now.

Must be terrible for the 'TOP TOP TOP REDS' like yourself though, it stops you guys from expressing your undying love for the team when everyone is shit, every game and putting us guys down who moan about not having the right sort of player.

Believe you me is fucking delightful not having to listen to crazies moaning every other minute about the team - although some of you still do.

Just another day at the office for Darwin.

+ve contribution after +ve contribution.

For me an ultimate confirmation of a striker at the top level of the game is when they are 1 on 1 against a defender+goalkeeper and in that situation everyone in the stadium knows there is absolutely nothing the defender can do to prevent a shot on target (unless the defender is prime Van Dijk and in that case his ability to not be beaten by Haaland or Mbappe becomes itself proof of his top-level status

What did I say? 🙂 One on one with a defender and there was no stopping him. Just need to see him do it a few more times to proclaim La Pantera arrived.

Hahahaha - I just watched the highlights.

Cracking finish from Nunez after that awful first touch.

That’s about the most Darwin thing ever - from the ridiculous to the sublime in seconds - he’s entertaining, I’ll give him that.

Why is he not allowed to have the occasional bad first touch ? - all the other players make bad first touches during the course of the 90mins. It's become a common theme with him now from the fans and the opposition - we destroy the confidence of our own players and thank God - he is one of those that does not comprehend the shit that is constantly spouted by fans. So glad he scored - I just wish that ball would have busted the net and ping-ponged into the mouth of every fan be it Liverpool and non-Liverpool and left them hospitalized for the shit they keep spewing at this guy for every single error he makes.

Have you bumped your head or something?

I've seen this posted on Twitter as well. Given the absolutely horrendous conditions last night I'm surprised people are having a go at him when it was practically a storm out there.

Funny you should ask that - I did shut the boot of the back of my car the other day and a bit of it hit my forehead. But I am OK, thanks for asking - I would expect nothing less in terms of concern for a fellow Red from a "Top Top X 10000" red like yourself.

That explains it - if you rattle your head a bit and it sounds like somethings come loose then you should probably get it checked out.

I am fine mate - I am really hard, and that post that you responded was not a rant - it was facts. We do this to many of our players and have a history of it, I wish it would stop - players make mistakes and bad first touches - but everyone just keeps going on about it like its a constant Nunez thing - when it is not.

Well, the thing is - it was noted that Nunez first touch was variable before we even bought him - so, I don’t see what the problem of pointing out he mis controlled a ball he shouldn’t have is?

That’s not a claim that every touch is poor.

The fact is - his control, shooting & finishing are erratic - he’s definitely improved and he’s absolutely not the only player ever to get it called out - Salah’s the same these days - bad control, shit shots, followed up with genius touches and passes that look impossible to make.

That’s just football.

It doesn’t mean you’re not supportive.

Actually - when you look at the squad at the minute - it’s one the first times in a long time that there isn’t a player I dislike or never want to see play for us again - even Thiago.

Can’t even say that about last season - when you had players like Keita around.

I said at the start of the season I was looking forward to this season and seeing this team develop - they’re doing fantastically well - that doesn’t mean they’re perfect, beyond a bit of healthy criticism or capable of doing better.

Which bring us back to Nunez - he’s done well and he can go better - if he keeps on his current trajectory and cuts out sone of the erratic play then he actually might be the world class generational talent we always see at other cunt teams.

Then you can stick his poster on your wall and wank off to him every night like Binomial. :graham:

We've been spoilt with players like Mane, Firmino and Salah... Those players are top top players balance and skill wise... Nunez is defo a level below but that doesn't mean that he's a bad footballer...he's still has the potential to be a very effective and successful footballer

agreed.

So it's odd for me. I see other strikers miss goals. Players who have less of a talent than Darwin and yes less goals. But the commentators don't lead with the narrative of "he misses as many as he scores". It's the first thing commentators say. Narratives are hard to shake.

It’s because he has had some howlers.

So good to have a striker who can come in into a tight, miserable game and decide it on one moment of quality. Years ago, United would always win games this way and it used to drive me insane. You don’t always need to dominate in order to win.

Of course man, but haven't they all? He's also had more screamers.
Ya course he has but people remember the howlers. When Torres missed a few sitters at Chelsea he was labelled finished and could never shake it. Forlan was the same at Utd.

I love him and I just bought him for my fuck my FF team to make that game more entertaining
