when we were kids the butchers, green grocers and fishmongers in our high street mainly closed due to the rise of supermarkets in out of town retail parks.
Now its the time for stores like Woolies, surely more will follow maybe WHSmith, Dixons, HMV ETC
In the long term is it a bad thing?
The generation of people who have no idea how to use the web isn't far from dissapearing is it which will enable home shopping for all, internet devices are getting easier to use - built into TVs ETC.
People who lose jobs from high street shops will end up working for people like Amazon in their depots and their distribution houses, will there be a need for a high street at all bar pubs and restaurants?
Is the future simply retail parks and the web?
I did not buy a single xmas prezzy from a shop, there seems to be nothing you cannot buy on line. The missus shops on line for supermarkets and it all seems to work lovely.
This gives you more time with your family and more recreation time.
I personally won't miss it, will anyone?
