That does seem high, Vestergard went to Leicester for around that price and he's a quality well established PL defender. That said Brighton got £50m for Ben White which is an astonishing amount so there is no real consistency to it. I do feel he's probably being priced out of a move unless some club has a last minute injury issue next week.
Or he’s just the value we feel he is. Does that read right?

I'd also rather not see Fabs play there again, I doubt he will.
Van Dijk suffered a freak injury so did Gomez. I doubt that they'll get injured again this season. Konate is new so he has a clean slate. Matip will probably break down within a month or two. So, I don't see Fabs playing there again.
If Philips stays he will probably not play a single game this season. That's why we need to sell.

I am 100% certain that Joe Gomez will get injured this season.

Yeah that's true. But he was playing for us regularly before that wasn't he?
Yeah, but I'm still wary of him. Hes had an awful run of luck with injuries so it does seem that playing/not playing might be irrelevant to him picking them up

I see...another Kirkland.

Gomez & Matip’s record of getting injured A LOT is well documented

Konate, is young, but has had injury problems too.

That’s not to say they’ll all get injured again... but I’d seriously be not taking the chance by letting Phillips go unless we really, really had to and it was for a very important reason.

It’s cold up there. He better get enough wood to burn to stay warm.

I’ll take myself out.

Reporting for centre back duty Herr Klopp!
Hahahahaha fuck sake 😀

Is it possible that loan to Hearts/Scotland is because there is a chance he could return again this season. Maybe just test if his strong preseason is actually real before offering a new contract?

He’s not gonna get a game here no matter how good he was in pre season and his last couple loan spells have done nothing for him so he needs a good move. Not sure that Scotland is best but all the best to the guy.

But…he is still only 21. His body got super awkward for a few years. Too early to write him off. Where was Robbo at 21?

I should add that if Linders see something, as he supposedly does, there still might be a chance for him.

Could be good for the player, Woodburn might have seen how well Ryan Kent has done and see a future for himself as a starting player. Good luck to him.

Woodburn seems to have a higher ceiling than Kent , talentwise that is. So hopefully it's just a stepping stone for him.

It's hard to know that though - he has bombed in the English lower leagues, and there is no interest in him. Is he actually showing any talent at all?

It seems to be a regular theme of writing off players if they are tearing it up at 21. Especially when you consider that he’s been quite unlucky with injuries just when he’s about to get going.

He looked great in pre-season, in a far deeper midfield role. Surely his future lies there not as an out and out striker. Does that count ?

Not sure if it counts as "has a higher ceiling" than someone who is actually making a tangible difference for a team that won their domestic league. Other than a wonder strike (which as time goes on we can call a fluke given he's not done anything remotely similar since) he has done fuck all at any level.

Well, from what I've seen he seems a lot more intelligent than Kent on the pitch. I think he'll do well in Scotland.

Intelligence might well be less useful than raw pace and a trick or two in Scotland. Kent isn't cerebral, but his attributes means he repeatedly gets behind the opposition. In a league in which players get away with a lot more physicality, and in which time on the ball is negligible, you often need more than being clever, especially when you're not surrounded by clever tippy-tappy players. He hasn't done well in league 1 (the kind of division that compares with the SPL for much of the league) on about 3 occasions and in fact, he has completely bombed. I expect the same again. He'd probably do well on loan in a Spanish league 1 side or something.
