The Canwagon

He doesn't strike me as the type of player Rodgers would want at DM. He's definately a box-to-box high energy central midfielder that can win the ball high up the pitch, carry the ball forward, dominate the central area and make late surges into the area. He looks a Ballack type player, with a bit more physicality.

(That all sounds horribly over the top, but he looks like he has the potential to be just that)

He's already got a friend in Liverpool:

As things stand, I'd play him opposite Hendo in midfield:

---------- Sturridge --------
Sterling ------------ Coutinho

Can ----------------- Hendo
---------- Gerrard ----------

Personally I wouldn't start them like that. Coutinho is not a goal-scorer nor is Hendo (about 14 between them last season) and although much stronger in CM it looks a bit light up front. I can only see Emre replacing Hendo or Stevie .. and it's more likely to be the later methinks.

Lallana ------ Sturridge --------Sterling

-------- Coutinho --------- Hendo

----------------- Can ----------

He looks incredibly efficient, tidy on the ball, decent engine, eye for a pass and big in the tackle. Early days but so far, so good.

I don't know why the media people haven't just released a five second video of Emre saying his full name.

Yeah, that would be helpful.

One of my best friends is Turkish. His name is written as Cem and pronounced as Jam. His brother's first name is actually Can. My friend pronounces it exactly the same as he would same the name John (he has American accent, so he says John with an "Uh" sound, not "O").

Maybe the difference between J and Ch is subtle and it could be something in between, but to me it seems closer to J than to Ch. So no Jackie Chan. More like Emre John.

If he develops as good as this thread hopes then he becomes a player we've needed for long time, and one that we could'v done with last year. Young with grit, determination and great touches...count me in. Looks like a future premier league winner to me 😉

Yes, he looks boss, but what did you expect? Everybody who watched him develop in Germany knew he is a hugely promising player. Not many players have this combination of size, technique and aggression.

What I'm more interested to know is, can he (please, please don't look for a pun here) play at the base of the midfield, where Gerrard and Lucas currently play? Does he have enough calmness and discipline to go with his physical and technical attributes? If so, then we can sell Lucas; if not, then he'll compete with Allen and Hendo and Lucas will stay.

Looks the business. We've done some superb deals the last few years for players like this, it could all pay off handsomely over the next decade.

Sterling £5m
Ibe £500k
Ilori £7m
Sturridge £12m
Coutinho £8.5m
Origi £10m
Markovic £20m
Can £10m

£73m for 8 absolutely top drawer young players. I love it.

You're forgetting Markovic

Yep, I'm on board with Can. He and Hendo will rule the midfield. Hendo did look like he was ready to start scoring last night. His touch does let him down in the tight places though.

Can't see him starting at DM with Gerrard and Lucas ahead of him there. I think it will be him, Hendo and Allen rotating for those 2 central roles.
