Murphy at his best is a tremendous strike runner and I've always felt wing was his best position. D'Arcy probably wouldn't get in the side as things stand currently, but I was going on everyone being fit and in form.
Don't get me wrong i rate D'Arcy highly but he simply seems so unlucky with injuries. Fair play to the guy he keeps coming back for more, but i do have my doubts that he'll ever reach the heights he did a few years back.

(Embarrassing) conversation I had in The Shelborne Bar on Friday night......................

John (My friend): Peter this is Aidan and Gordon, Gordon, Aidan this is Peter he's over from Manchester.
Gordon: You over for the game tomorrow?
Peter (Me): Yeah that and just to catch up with a few friends. You going to the game?
Aidan (smiling): Yeah we'll be there.
Peter: What do you reckon our chances are this year?
2 x Passers by: Good luck tomorrow Gordon.
Gordon: Thanks lads.
Peter: What's that about, you got something on?
Gordon: Yeah I'm hoping to play tomorrow.
Peter: Seriously?
Another passer by: Good luck tomorrow Gordon.
Peter (as the penny drops): You're Gordon D'Arcy.
*group laughs at Pesam*

In my defence I always have had a problem recognising famous sports stars/celebrities up close.

Edit: Better also mention that he was drinking coffee and was gone before 10pm.

I wouldn't know the fucker if I found him with his cock up my arse

Rugby really is shit

Would anyone here prefer to see their country win the 6 Nations or World Cup (Of Rugby) than see Liverpool win the title?

Liverpool winning the league takes preference over the 6 nations champiosnhip. If it was Ireland to win the Grand Slam it would be close (as this hasn't been achieved in my lifetime whereas I am fortunate enough to see us (Liverpool) win the league 11 times) but I would still prefer Liverpool winning the league - just.

If England hadn't won the rugby World Cup in 2003 it would be a close call for me.

Luckily, I can now expend all my sporting emotions on the red men without having to decide.

Brendan, I've noticed you don't seem to like any sports other than football?
Is that a fair assessment?

I remember when I first went to Uni I met several people who were well into their footy but not that much keen on other sport. I've always had varying degrees of interest in all sports except for a few exceptions with horse racing (equestrian sport in general in fact), figure skating and synchronised swimming springing to mind. I'm sure there are others.

I dunno, I'm pretty limber

Is that a word?
lim·ber 1 (lmbr)
adj.
1. Bending or flexing readily; pliable.
2. Capable of moving, bending, or contorting one's head in a 180° angle with another man's penis up one's anus, thus allowing one to say, 'Oh, are you Gordon D'arcy?'

Haha, cool

I do like other sports; boxing

And I can watch test cricket now and then, and the odd lap of F1 (hoping for a crash)

I hate all other sports, yeah.

didn't bother watching the Rugby World Cup final, glad we won, but overall not that bothered.

I fucking hate fairweather sports fans who get interested when there's a big tournament to be won, it's what fucks me off about rugby and cricket fans; if you love it so much, how come you only care about big games and internationals and that's it?

I'm definitely a fairweather rugby fan. I never watch club rugby - life's too short. Plus I have no emotional investment in any of the clubs, whereas with England there's always the love/hate national thing going on.

I had a great time when we won the World Cup, as I would if England ever won the football World Cup again, but for me, nothing like that comes close to Liverpool FC. Not even remotely.

I can't invest any time in rugby, any more than I could tiddlywinks

Football is the greatest sport invented. By a fucking mile

Boxing is next

The rest can suck my chubby

This annoys me during the football World Cup when every Tom, Dick and Harriet who never normally follow the game suddenly have an opinion on all matters footy.

Not all rugby fans are how you describe them. Clubs like Bath and Gloucester, to name but two, have a large and faithful following. I'm sure the same is true of the county cricket scene.

When I'm back home on the Wirral I always try and get to see my local club, Caldy play. We're doing quite well at the moment too. Top of National League 3 North (4th tier of rugby in England).

It's not true of the county cricket scene at all

They can't give away tickets

And the crowds for rugby rarely sell out, and are generally paltry, unless it's a final or an international

County cricket you're quite right, but with regards to club rugby i think you'll find that attendances have been going up year in year out, hence why a lot of clubs are building bigger stands or moving into new grounds.

Wales v England predictions?

I'll go for: Wales 32 - 9 England

I think it'll be closer than that Rafa. The English always raise their game against us. I think there will be no more than 10 points in it. With Wales winning, obv.

I think it'll be more like 44-6. Seriously I think we'll get thrashed.

And it's bullshit to say that England always raise their game against Wales - during the last fifteen years or so, it's been the other way round.

Yeah you could well be right mate, but can you remember a time in recent years when they've been so utterly shite and we've had a team as strong and as full of confidence as it is at present?

It may well end up closer like you say, but their is also the distinct possability that we give them an allmighty pasting.

Rugby is a lot better supported than previously in the UK and Ireland.

There was a time when I could get a ticket for any game I liked at Lansdowne Road (capacity 45,000), but now I find it tricky to get one for matches since they moved the games to Croke Park (capacity 82,000). The English Premiership is pretty well supported these days, and Irish provincial rugby is more popular than ever, Leinster have to play games in the RDS instead of Donnybrook these days and Munster have just doubled capacity with a new stadium.

It's still a minor enough game worldwide though

Well obviously I didn't *pay* to go

Jesus, as if

The fighting in the crowd was more fun and more prolonged

People were saying similar things about us before the last World Cup.

I'll be surprised if you lot don't win, but I fancy us to run you a lot closer than you seem to think.

It is a possibility, but I never big these things up before the event. They have a habit of coming back to haunt you.

Maybe so in a lot of cases, but this England team?

A win by 1 point would be good enough for me, but i am expecting much more.

Vantage, genuinely - what the fuck is your issue?

I've no fucking issue with you, I barely even fucking notice you on this site you're that much of an anonymity to me. You on the other hand have trawled after me with half-arsed digs, sly remarks, and petty points for months now. It's just about your only contribution too. I could pick out a handful of these shitty little efforts of yours from the last week alone. Yet you get zip from me.

So, tell me Vantage. Tell me, and the other posters who've picked up on this rather bizarre stalking trait of yours, what really is your fucking issue?
