Very enjoyable game that (Well done the Irish).

Not a bad sidestep for a 18 stone lump either.
I did tell you to watch out for him.

Man of the Match today and it's great to see his continued development.
Yeah he's not bad at all, in fact hes not far behind Powell 🙂
haha we'll see.

I'll be amazed if you don't win this one.
So would i, but those scots have a habit of turning us over at there place.

It's a fairly unremarkable game.

AW Jones, and the Welsh 12 (whoever he is) are playing pretty well though.

26-13.

Wales eased off a bit towards the end and let Scotland play.
It's going to be an Irish grand slam this year.

I'd love you to be right, but I can't see us beating Wales. They look excellent.

As long as it goes down to the last game in Cardiff I'll be happy enough with this season to be honest.

I think we can cope with them though. They're physical up front, but so are we. And there's not much to choose between the back lines. It'll be a great game.

Thats laughable Rosco.

Wales, apart from all their talent, have just got fantastic team spirit. They look so full of self-belief and unity. Maybe Liverpool should hire Warren Gatland?

We've got the best 10 and 15, a very good centre partnership and in your words "the best winger in Wales"

Lee Byrne isn't Irish!!!!!

And i think i said that that he was the form winger in Wales, i suspect the current WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR might just edge TB. Anyways you thought he was distinctly average when i mentioned how well he had been playing.

BOD would still get in (if Henson was injured), but apart from that i struggle to see another Irishman that could make it into the Welsh backline (maybe O'Gara).

Quite a young squad to:

Halfpenny 21
Roberts 22
Hook 23
Evans 23
AWJ 23
Phillips 26
Bennett 26
R Jones 27
Powell 27
Thomas 27
A Jones 28
Rees 28
Byrne 28
Henson 28
Jenkins 28

No mate, it isn't. I'm not sure the Irish are better than you, but either way the gap is not that wide.

Mixed team then JJ, how may irish would you put in the Welsh team?

If im being totally serious i'd go for:

Jenkins
Rees
Hayes
AW Jones
P O'Connell (C)
R Jones
Williams
Powell
Phillips
O'Gara
Williams
BOD
Roberts/Henson
Halfpenny (he looks amazing for such a young player)
Byrne

Well, I was referring specifically to the back line, but since you ask (assuming everyone fit and in form, and adopting your order):

Jenkins
Flannery
Hayes
A W Jones
O'Connell
Best (unbelievably underrated by the Irish selectors)
Williams
Powell
Phillips
Hook (never been convinced about O'Gara)
Williams
BOD
D'Arcy
Murphy
Byrne

Murphy on the wing mate?

And there is not a chance that D'arcy would replace either Roberts or Henson (imo).

I saw Best play for Ireland in NZ and at that time thought he was going to be a real stand out player for the Irish, but whats happened to him (i haven't seen much of him recently) ?

Murphy at his best is a tremendous strike runner and I've always felt wing was his best position. D'Arcy probably wouldn't get in the side as things stand currently, but I was going on everyone being fit and in form.

Don't get me wrong i rate D'Arcy highly but he simply seems so unlucky with injuries. Fair play to the guy he keeps coming back for more, but i do have my doubts that he'll ever reach the heights he did a few years back.

The 6 Nations should be done every two years, not one.
Why ?

I couldn't believe it when I saw it was 6 Nations time again the other week. For those of us, I'm obviously including myself, who takle no more than a passing interest in the game there is a touch of overkill in having it every year. Were it every couple of years, I'm sure the sense of climax would be greater, I'd take a much greater interest in it, and the sense of victory that would come from it would mean more than the 'share-around' it currently looks like.

Just a thought.
You could say that about the European Cup.
You could. But there are only 6 teams vying for this one, and it just seems overkill seeing them play each other all the fucking time.

I think until he learns how to control a game a little more he will remain as SJ understudy at international level. Even at regional level he tends to be very up and down at present. He's undoubtedly got all the talent needed, i guess he's just on a learning curve at the moment.
