Liverpool readying a sensational bid for Man City hit man. Rumours have been circulating over the last few days that Carlos Tevez is faar from happy at Man City and that he is on the verge of demanding a transfer with Liverpool seen as a likely destination.
At first the story was seen as pure gossip but now both the Spanish and Italian media are also running with the story and in fact the Italians are fairly confident that Tevez will be at Anfield next season partnering up with his old mate Javier Mascherano and forming a world class partnership with Fernando Torres.

The story goes that Liverpool can afford to pay up to £18 Million and that Man City may well be interested in accepting the bid rather than keep a player that is unhappy in the dressing room, they may even use Tevez has bait to tempt Liverpool to sell Anfield captain Steven Gerrard to City.

With other rumours linking Benitez with the managers job at City next season and repeated speculation linking both Gerrard and Torres with moves to City also one can expect that there will be a lot of communicating going on between Man City and Liverpool in the close season.

The whole Gerrard and Torres to City bit makes this rumour seem highely unlikely, but still good fun and interesting.

Highely likely Doc, but at least we're getting linked with some good players.

In todays papers Mancini wants rid of Adebayor, SWP, Bridge and Ireland.
I wouldn't mind SWP. English, pace, direct and and a great option to have in the squad.

Tevez would be a marvelous signing for us.
However:
1. He never seems to be happy at any of his previous clubs (I believe City are his 5th) and
2. Never gonna happen...

I have a feeling they'll get rid of Mancini first.

Let's pull up that (old chestnut of a) thread where certain 6cm cretins - were saying that Tevez was overrated and not what we needed.

He didn't set the world alight at United, there were plenty of United fans who didn't rate him by the end there, let alone Liverpool fans.

I'm pretty sure there was one thread where I got a few slaps because Tevez wouldn't fit into our 4-3-3 formation, so what was the point?

He was alwys second fiddle to Rooney, and every United fan I know loved him.

He is - and I can't stress this enough - fucking quality. He's one of my favourite players.

The truth is that he isn't suited to Rafa's systems, but Rafa will be in Turin anyhoo.

He's played more than 1 season of football you know.

He was outstanding at West Ham in a 4-4-2, made his name in Argentina in a 4-4-2, and has succeeded in both 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 formations for City this year.

He could play in any forward formation and score goals because he's that good.

We don't play 4-4-2, and the 1 in our 4-5-1 isn't going to be Tevez. Where does he play in a 4-2-3-1?

And I'd like him btw!

I think that was my response too.

I just want more good players in the squad, and less shit ones.

That's the first step to making a good team, not slavishly sticking to a formation and filling it with flids, and still expecting it to win games.

We're often linked with good players mate. Problem is - we never buy them

Anywhere along the 3. Besides, Rafa's (very) occasionally sent them out in a 4-4-2 this season. Who's to say he wouldn't do that more often with a player like Tevez at his disposal?

When we were trying to figure out how he was going to accommodate Robbie Keane in the side many of us said things like this.

Fair comment, but it may or may not translate into Tevez' situation if he does come. In any case I think he'd do fine along the 3 as indicated. One thing on which we're certainly agreed is that I'd love us to sign him.
