Team for Sunderland.

The end of the season is all about bedding in Carroll & Saurez & getting a partnership going.

Fuck I'd love to see Gerrard on the right swinging balls in from deep & occasionally breaking forwards. Like a Beckham but with verve & energy.

Pity the rest of our CM options at that gash or simply limited we can't ever try it on occasion.

In the nicest possible way, Who gives a fuck.
We have NOTHING to play for.
I cant believe we are out of everything already. At least last year we got to ths semis of the cuntsoup cup, and lost to a proper team.
March 17th! Has our season ever been totally over this early?

I reckon right. Just to see how it feels like. Just like watch the match an da an enjoy us playin, hopefully, some raa tasty togger til the end of the season. An then continue to next seasons please god la.

Any updates on Shelvey and Agger?
Shelvey is done for the season - dunno about the glass man

Kuyt as a wing-back?! Fucking hell. The only time he's looked half-decent this season is when he's been played as a striker.

I'd play:

Reina

Carra - Skrtel - Wilson - Magic

Lucas - Spearing - Ming

Kuyt - Carroll - Suarez

Shit midfield, but what other options do we have there?
I'd go with this.

Both are returning to training this week I think. Kenny mentioned them in a press conference last week

Looking forward to watching Agger play the remaining two games of his season. Then I will be almost convinced, yet again, that we will see the uninterrupted best of him next season.

Liverpool are likely to field their strongest front pair of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll for Sunday's trip to Sunderland.

Owing to Carroll's recent injury problems, the duo have played just 15 minutes together - in the 3-1 win over Manchester United - since both arrived in January.

However, the England international made his first start for the club in their Europa League exit against Braga, for which Suarez was ineligible, and the former Newcastle striker is likely to retain his place with the Uruguayan returning to the line-up.

Defender Daniel Agger may be fit, having missed the last four matches with a knee injury, but the Reds will be without captain Steven Gerrard (groin), defenders Martin Kelly and Fabio Aurelio (both hamstring) and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey (knee).

Provisional squad: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Johnson, Lucas, Spearing, Meireles, Rodriguez, Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt, Cole, Gulacsi, Wilson, Agger, Flanagan, Poulsen, Ngog, Pacheco.

Liverpool head to the Stadium of Light in a different frame of mind to that which they had when the Anfield club gripped in turmoil earlier in the campaign.

The appointment of Kenny Dalglish until the end of the season has galvanised them at a time when supporters were increasingly frustrated with life under Roy Hodgson and the previous American owners.

Zenden, part of the squad in 2007 that were runners-up to AC Milan in the Champions League, has been an interested observer at the goings on since his departure.

But he does think that under Dalglish, Liverpool are starting to head in the right direction again and suggests Sunday's encounter will be a lot more difficult than it might have been earlier in the season.

"In the last year when Rafa Benitez left and Roy Hodgson came in it seemed everything went a bit wrong," he said. "Every week there was a takeover and then no takeover and obviously that affects players. The new American owners were coming one minute and then not the next.

"Then there was talk of a new stadium and although the first stone should have been laid two or three years ago it has still not moved forward. It is all turmoil.

"That is why the results have suffered, but King Kenny has come back in and they are playing again. The massive boost they have had recently was the result against Manchester United. That will give them a really big positive vibe and will make a big difference to them.

"There is still a long way to go this season and they are obviously chasing a European spot, but with the way the season is going anyone can beat anyone else so it is difficult to predict."

Spurs throw us another lifeline. Gap is now 7 points and we've still got to play each other at Anfield.

They've still got 2 derbies (away to Chelsea and at home to Arsenal) as well as an away game to City, while we also have to visit Arsenal and host City.

The 5th spot is still within grasp - we just need to treat all the also-rans in the league we play like they're the top 4 teams. Maybe then, we'll be motivated enough to bring our game faces. Starting with Sunderland tomorrow.

Does anyone really fancy us to win this match? Sunderland are a decent side at home, and we've been shite away for a loooong time. Plus, without Gerrard, we have one of the weakest midfields in the league. I'm sure Spurs will continue dropping points - I just can't see us winning enough games to put any pressure on them.

Spot on Keni as per. It's the yanks first close season and they will look to make a statement. I hope.
I thought they'd done that already !

I'd agree with you, if it wasn't for Suarez. If he can pull rabbits out of a couple of hats then we'll win.

Yeah we won't win. This is due to a number of factors, including the ones you've listed.

In addition we've just played a game in Europe, it's not a 3 o'clock kick off on a Saturday, it's against fathead Bruce.

NO WIN!

This.

Thursday was a reminder of just how average our midfield all the way across is.

Gerrard is indeed a big loss to the team however he wasn't really in the game vs Utd and we gave them a thorough thumping.

I'm hoping Sunderland get a last minute penalty to make the game a 4-4 draw and Gyan takes it and balloons that mutha over the bar.

And that Suarez didn't cause the penno through some handball business.

we'll loose comfortably tomorrow.

2-0

Can't wait to stay up til 12.30am to watch 90 minutes of Carra pretending he's not hoofing it, by doing those angled chipped floaty balls instead.

Awesome.

Would love to see us win.

I think this thread should be locked, now that we have a match thread with the team confirmed.
