It's a fucking shame that a side this good didn't form a dynasty of some sort , over the next 2 seasons the side which won the Cl and prem and shouldve won at least 2x both trophies get broken up as players move on.

Replacing Klopp ,Mo , Mane etc is no mean feat but the club just feels like it's a evolved over the past 5 years so I'm far more confident than I have been after any other transitional period

They’re winning the quad and will beat Everton to send them down. We’re going to have 18 statues of the fuckers by the start of next season.

He's a perfect back-up – supremely efficient and consistent and can play in 4 positions. For 7M, we could have done much, much worse.

Impressive how his upper body strength seems to have improved – he now rides challenges and doesn't lose the ball cheaply.

It's interesting - for the first time I saw value in him playing that RW role - in the first half he was the poacher at that side of the box, scoring two good goals, and for the rest, he ran high up the pitch with the ball, and dovetailed well with Eliott. If he continues like this, and we have Minamino as cover for Salah, Diaz and Mane for the LW spot, and Jota and Firmino, it looks like a strong front 3, and that we could win most games even with the backups.

I mean , he's always been ok , hasn't he?

He's just in that part of the squad ox has lived in forever where you're simply not good enough to become more than what you currently offer , a back up to the back up and a cup starter in the earlier rounds

I would presume we would garner some half decent offers in the summer for Taki, it'd be a mistake to not cash in IMO

How was his performance received in Japan?
I can see a couple of Minamino highlights on Youtube (in Japanese) that have a combined million views already with a couple of thousand comments with people absolutely happy. He's a big asset for LFC when it comes to the Japanese market. Most live matches of Liverpool on Dazn tend to use Minamino thumbnails as well.

Why oh why would we do that? We're finally able to compete on all fronts, and this squad player's been scoring for fun when called upon for those games where we rest the first choice strikers. Or would you suggest we bring in a few more world class strikers for 100s of millions just to play the FA and League Cups?
He's being the perfect squad player right now.

Depends what the cash in is though doesn't it? Do you get a better squad option for similar money? We need a squad and at the moment he is excelling in the cup competitions, while being an option for league games. If he's happy on that basis I'd keep him. He was brilliant throughout the league cup run

Well he's currently only behind Salah, Mane, and Jota for goals scored so going by his form this season, I'd say it would be pretty tough to replace him for whatever he'd be sold at. I just find it extraordinary that we'd be discussing bringing in a squad replacement for a squad player that's currently doing his job amazingly well. He hasn't stood still and has improved massively since his early underwhelming days.

No I absolutely wouldn't sell him just as he's starting to perform. Look at the valuable goals he's scored this season. Ox is absolutely the one I'd sell / replace, he again showed very very little and he's not going to improve from here on, he is what he is. Whereas Minamino was everything we wanted him to be and may not have yet hit his ceiling.

I think he is too slow tp play on the wings but his link up play is exceptional and would like to see how he would do as a CM or AM

His ideal position is that Kaka / Raul 2nd striker position. Its unfortunate for him that we don't play that way.

You say that, but I think, like Jota, he may be a very useful player when we're playing low block teams, and where we end up camped around packed rows of defence. Lets face it, it has been a common obstruction, and one that we haven't always handled well. I think the addition of Jota has certainly benefitted us this year in coping with such tactics, but Minamino is another useful tool in the armoury.

That is true. No reason why he couldnt be thrown on in one of the midfield positions with 20 minutes to go if we're looking for a goal.

He's still a difficult one to work out. On the one hand we complain about squad strength and we have a player like Minamino who frequently comes in and performs well when we are resting our first choice players, so he is worth keeping in that respect.

On the other hand, you wouldn't want him playing against the top teams and I am not sure how effective he is as an impact sub either.

I've said all along (along with others) that he's clearly talented and a good player but (as others have also said), he suffers from the fact that a) we don't quite set up to his strengths and b) he'd probably find it easier in a less physical league.

Despite liking him as a player, I'd pretty much written him off but last night made me question that somewhat. Not because he scored a couple goals but because it's the first time I've seen him properly use his strength to hold off defenders.
