The game shows the short comings of the team post Phil. If the front 3 aren't firing, who else will / can step up.

Right, I'm going to watch star trek discovery & play Mario Odyssey & pretend footy doesn't exist until I'm reminded of it tomorrow.

I'm not really sure who you'd buy to change these kinds of games. Coutinho failed countless times. So did Gerrard.
If teams are playing 8-1-1 it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know to play with tall players and whip balls in.

It was too congested in the middle.

There have been many, many games where he didn't step up either

Bad day at the office

They both dragged us out a hole in enough of them too. The more good players you have, the more chance you have of winning regularly.

It's a simple enough notion. You sell one and you lose that bit of quality, as we've pointed out since we inexplicably sold him with no immediate plan.

There isn't a type of player that's the thing.

But it won't stop the gnashing of teeth over coutinho.

One mistake. One goal. Cannot score against packed defence. That is the Liverpool story. Where is our defence? Where was VVD in high balls situations? Where is the defence for the second ball?

There it is ladies and jellybeans.
Easy blueprint for beating us. 5-4-1 formation. Keep it tight. And have one shot on target.
Guaranteed D or W.
Credit to Swansea for sticking well to the plan.

He won a fair few to be fair and when balls were whipped in, he was the only one actually moving to attack the ball. Maybe that's pre our ridiculous system knocking that sort of thing out of him, but anyway. He might have cocked up a bit for the goal, but he was still one of our best players. Everyone else was fucking garbage.

We didn't play well at all and yet had 3-4 good chances to score. Their goal had fortune and they had not other chances.

It happens.

Robertson was totally pointless for me. Every single time the ball went out to the left, it came back to VVD. Really disappointing after the Man City match.

Yes, it hardly seems complicated that you have a better chance of winning games if you have more top quality players available.

I don't think anyone is fucking thick enough to claim that having Coutinho in that side would have *guaranteed* a win, but equally I would hope there's no cunt thick enough to deny that selling him and not replacing him means we have a weaker team, and therefore will probably win less games

The blame deflecting begins.

Cue you defending the shit out of this farce while our season falls to pieces.

Why don't you ask him what we are supposed to do then Mark? City seem to be winning enough of these games this season. Why do you think that is? Better players perhaps?

Goes back to your first point perfectly.

Sell your best players and don't replace them = Less chance of winning football matches.

Not blaming VVD. He dominated that corner kick (maybe he should just let it go out behind him as there was no Swansea player behind him I think) but was knocked out too weak inside the box. No second ball defending is the thing.

If they have not score I don't thing we could win either.
