Suso - Our most promising player

I can see him getting loaned out. Then when he returns from loan having looked every inch a world class player, we'll offer him a contract, and he'll be like "seriously? are you kidding me?" lol all you can do is laugh

Edited it in the space of 2 mins. Looking at the positives, he probably realised its the 'real games' and the season that count, not 1 match? Probably doesn't want to tire him out after his U19 Euro exploits?

What a dickhead tweeting that. He isn't ready for the first team and did fuck all in any of the friendlies despite being the fittest player there.

Seriously? Are you kidding me? It was clearly to make room in the squad for the returning senior players, and him not having the authority or the bollocks to send established players like Adam/Cole/Downing/Spearing to the reserves.

So Rodgers doesn't have sufficient authority or bollocks, despite the fact he pressured the owner (who had just sacked a legend) into abandoning his blueprint of how the club would be structured?

You're putting some kid who has done the square root of fuck all ahead of the manager? Good priorities there.

bit gutted for him as he is a talent. we should be ditching players like Adam and developing suso who has talent.

By not having a Director of Football it makes his life easier, so it wasn't exactly hard for him to pressure the owners for it. A quote from Rodgers: http://www.lfctour.com/news/rodgers-thanks-reds-fans

He can play in a couple of different positions. I remember seeing him against Chelsea at the end of last season after the Cup final and he was outstanding. He played on the right side and he can go either way. His right foot is good as well. I like my wingers to attack and be offensive, and Stewart is one of those. He can really affect things.

I'm really pissed at him putting Downing ahead of Suso. If your priority is to put Rodgers ahead of Suso, and by default you can accept that Downing is therefore also ahead of Suso based on the manager's decision, then good for you. I'm not interested in seeing us draw every game 0-0 and watching that gutless fucker attempt to run with the ball.

You lot are all a bunch of cunts.

Sorry, all the posts in this thread are a bunch of cunts.

What the fuck did I do?

There's alot of politics in football when you're handling multi-million pound players, it's our obligation, unfortunately, to keep him fit and give him a run out in friendlies, Suso has had a couple of games. I don't see why sending him home so he misses ONE friendly can have that much meaning. We've got a Euro game this week which we have to get through, while still missing a fair few players and still having players that have only played half an hour of a friendly, we need all the experience we can realistically play.

I know in the ideal World we would play Sterling, Suso and Pacheco this week and rip it up, but the reality is it's a game we have to be professional about and win so we can stay in the competition and take what winnings we can from that over the course of the season. Put it this way, if we were to fuck up in Europe, the pressure is already on Rodgers.

People are seriously reading too much into this, it's one game and in the meantime Suso get's to play a reserve game to carry on gaining match fitness. He'll play when ready. Just as a side note, it's worth mentioning that but for a few moments of inspiration, Sterling has also looked every bit the young naive footballer and has lacked the physical strength at times to compete. As great a prospect as he is, it will take time for him to be played and be relied upon to make a difference.

Gerrard:

"I see or hear some young lads talking about being patient or waiting for their chance," he says. "It sounds like they feel they need a 15-minute cameo in a first-team game to prove what they can do. That's not what it's about. It's about proving yourself every day in training.

"We train from 10am until 1pm or 2pm. In that time you have to show you don't want to wait around. Their attitude should be: it doesn't matter how old I am, I'm good enough. They don't want to be getting to September or October and wondering why they didn't get a chance in a game. Do it now is my message to them.

"They have to go in every day and prove to the manager that they are better than those players who are in the team. Myself and Jamie and Michael didn't wait around on the fringes of the squad hoping we'd be selected some day. We showed on the training pitch that we would do whatever it took to make the boss put us in.

"We showed the mental strength required. We proved that we were as good as, if not better than, those who had been ahead of us. That's what these lads need to do."

He's just getting older and starting to reminisce about the old days when he had the likes of Redknapp and McManaman ahead of him. Implying to Suso that he has to work harder and compete just to get ahead of Charlie Adam will kill the poor guys will to live for God's sake.

blimey... strong words from Gerrard there if they are directed as a response to that silly tweet. If Suso is the talent that he and many others think then he has to step up and show it, Stevie is dead right. It could also be argued that with the relative paucity of creative ability in the side and with a new manager, limited funds, on the back of a car crash season etc etc, if you are a youth/reserve player it should be the best possible time to force your way in.

I hope Suso heeds stevies words and starts bustinghis guts to get in.

Suso has spoken about where he sees him self in the current heirarchy, and how he feels about being a reserve at LFC.

But no, let's rather panic about a few words in a tweet.

Heh... he's the one panicking it seems. I know it must be frustrating but it's the worst way to react, Sterling did the same a while ago. They're starting to get a look in, they've figured in a few friendlies, it should be one step at a time.

What was most disconcerting for me is the swipe at the manager I.e. 'nothing changes'. I fully understand moaning about going back to the reserves. Who wouldn't? But the dig is a shithouse comment.

What Gerrard said is great and it's the way it should be but unfortunately not every player thinks like that as he alluded to. These days players move young to get better opportunities (and better contracts). That's how we got guys like Suso in the first place. If the club values a player for now or for the future then they have to make him understand that he has a future at the club. Suso doesn't seem to be getting that message from the tweet posted. The choice is either to take a bit of a hit in the first team and give him what he wants till he signs a new contract or gamble and send him home. If the club are happy to gamble then that's fine... as long as we don't turn around at a later date wondering why he's left (if he does).

I'm sure there is a balance somewhere, and Stevie is probably well aware of it. But as mentioned Lucas had a great attitude in training that won him minutes on the pitch. Some of the younger players who think their talent alone should get them to start games for us needed to be told, and Stevie probably was the best person to say that.

If you are good, then you need to show it where-ever you get the opportunity. Suso will get chances this year, if he knuckled down and worked hard in training. I don't think managers are daft enough to miss something that obvious...But if he doesn't show it in training, the manager will feel he is taking a bigger risk backing something unknown and ultimately it's his job on the line.

If I was a young player dying to get in the team and frustrated about it (and, let's face it, which young talent isn't?) I'd be much happier hearing the captain say "stop waiting, prove yourself in training if you're good enough" than some old guy saying "be patient young one, your time will come..."

Nothing should light up a youngster's eyes faster than to hear that your time is now.

At least you know that eyes are on you, expectations are out there and you are now competing on merit, not promise. Of course you much rather hear that you are the next ronaldo, we're going to play you every game from now on... but 19 is the age when you shouldn't be too tired to prove yourself.

So the panic button is out because Suso will play a reserve game. A bit ott to be honest.

We'll be mad not to offer him a new contract. And Rodgers will definetly keep him on if he feels hecan make it.

Lets just wait and see. Do we know if that deleted tweet is even true? Havent seen it on any other site.

Regardless, I think its extremely stupid of him to say things like that on twitter.
18 years old, just been on a US tour with the first team after playingin the u-19 champs.

You can understand why Rodgers isnt throwing him into contention for the Europa league on thursday. I'd rather see him start or on the bench next week if we have a decent lead.

Hope he signs a new contract mind. But voicing your disapointment on twitter wont please Borrell/Rodgers
