I'm not that surprised we lost though I'd stop a long way short of suggesting Serie A is anything close to the standard in the EPL; unless there has been an amazing change this season.
I must admit I've been absolutely buried in a couple of projects and have only managed to catch 3 games - the Spurs game really underlined my misgivings about our transfer period early on.
All that said I'm not surprised we lost because our defence, to my thinking, is not up to the challenge of a genuinely good team with a cutting edge. Carra has been and always will be a Liverpool legend but he's struggled immensely in the games I've seen this season, culminating in the West Ham match which was one of the worst I've seen from him.
I've always felt that you need either a water tight defence from which to build an effective attack or a breath takingly terrifying front line which leaves the defence with little to cope with. At the moment, if I'm honest, I don't think we really have either.
The weekend should really demonstrate where we are and what we can do this season. I'm desperately hopeful that this is the season but not quite as confident.
