Well, he's not quite Super Mario yet, but he's growing into the squad alright.

Could it be those of us optimistic enough to hope he'd find his feet at Anfield over the course of the season had real cause for optimism? Might he finally begin to fulfil his potential?

He's putting a nice little run together of coming on and grabbing an important goal or assist and his general hold up / link up play is showing a touch of class. He's seemingly gained a yard of pace back and is working harder too.

He's starting to look like a proper 2nd choice striker all of a sudden, offering a real potent threat and some unpredictability from the bench. Not bad for 16m at his age.

I made a similar post in the other thread. Encouraging signs on the pitch. I wonder what Rodgers thinks of it all.

It's the 'tache.

Friend of mine commented that he looks like a young Danny Glover with the 'tache. Thoughts?

He looks like Errol Flynn. Dashing. Rakish.

Or Carlton...

I'd be tempted to give him a start. Coutinho really needs a rest and I still think we look more dangerous with 2 up front. Plus this formation makes it much less of a sacrifice to other parts of the team.

He is putting the effort in. .

Good option to have at the moment..

Studge is trying too hard

Studge has been out for 5 months. Its normal to have a few good games first and then drop down a bit performance wise.
Needs to play to get him match fit.

Love that Balotelli is finding some form.

Big mistake he didn't start today... One guy would scare of Besiktas. He started on the ben h... Unxortunately a career from Watfor, Reading and Swansea have not learned Rodgers anything about Europe.. Wonder why??

Or he brought a player on who changed the match and won the game.
Nah youre right SACK mr Rodgers.

I think I'd give Coutinho a rest against Southampton. Start Balotelli and Sturridge with Sterling just behind.

Finally now playing a the bare minimum we should expect. So by comparison he's looking good. Decent last night and could come good. Maybe the penny has dropped.

Can we keep the penalty discussion in the other thread chaps..

Moved the posts to the Penatelli thread..

Cheers..

I was disappointed he didn't come on and would have brought him on ahead of Sturridge yesterday. Sterling, Lallana and Coutinho were too lightweight and never clicked as an attacking unit. I felt we needed some strength and presence up top to build the attack around but it was sat on the bench.

See where you're coming from, but if Rodgers wanted to stick with one up top there wouldn't have been any point shoehorning Balotelli into that role.
