To the tune of Agadoo

Kicks the ball and scores a goal
Ma Ri O O O
Can't believe you cost fuck all

First attempt - Don't worry I got plenty more.

I can never think of a decent tune to pen the words too. Then again I suppose I can never think of any decent words to put to a tune it seems. A vicious circle... 🙁

I'm thinking something to the tune in the old Cornetto advert.

He needs to train hard. Nothing else bothers me much if he does that, because I think quite an improvement in other aspects of his behaviour will follow, but he's got to train really seriously. Rodgers' team requires players who are really fit, really tactically alert and really committed. Much of the media moaning is about trivial stuff. This is what his signing for us will hinge on. He's got to put in the work (and the thought).

Lambert is as far from fit as you could get, and his impact in our first game was invaluable. It'd be nice if Balotelli trained hard and ran his socks off in games, but it's not essential for him to be a success here. It's like marriage, you don't marry someone and then try to change them. We should focus on what he's brilliant at, which is belting the ball hard into the goal.

That's so stunningly, stupidly, wrong it's almost beneath comment. And if you think Balotelli can genuinely make a consistent contribution without training hard and buying into the whole ethos of Rodgers' team, then you're either temporarily mad or you're just bored on a Sunday and looking for a long and pointless argument. Which I'll ignore.

Ahem. Cornetto advert tune...three, two, one, hit it....

He's Balotelli
He's six foot three
The red men's striker
From Italy

He plays
He scores a goal
Oh Balotelli
Super Marioooo

That's the song.

He's been described as an awful trainer loads in the past, unfortunately.

Which is the main worry, I feel. Evidently there are those who think you don't need to be fit and focussed to be world class, but personally I think it's the norm, and the norm for a reason. I couldn't much care about him being a good boy off the pitch so long as he puts in the work on the training ground and the during the matches. He's not failing to realise his full potential because he wears funny hats and lets off fireworks. He's failed so far because he's not doing what the really top players always do: work like hell at being the best.
