Super Harvey Elliott

We need him to be a Juan Mata, David Silva or Zola type. The positive is that he's still got time on his side

Yea that’s what I’m hoping for but i don’t know if he’ll get the chance to develop into one of those players, current needs might overrule player development. Even then that type of player is difficult to fit into many systems. Like you said he’s got time on his side and a great attitude, be interesting to see what happens.

He's in basically the same situation Hendo was in when he joined. A young kid in a team with extreme pressure to perform and an underachieving midfield.
Look at how Foden was bedded in, no pressure at all, got all the time in the world, learned from the best and naturally progressed.
However, some young players can still cope with it and produce. Sterling did, Trent did, Gerrard and so on.

The issue I have with this part, is (bar Trent) they all broke through and played in their strongest position to reinforce what they already know. Harvey, less so. He's not an 8 so fuck knows why we're trying to convert him. I agree overall with the post though.

I didn't actually need stats to see how bad Elliott has been. I just reposted something I saw on Reddit.
The stats just confirmed what I've been seeing.

His stats are showing he’s as bad at defending as every attacking midfielder.

The bit you got right is about what sort of player we’re trying to turn him into and tge factbges got time to be able to do it.

Personally, I think he’s a symptom, rather than a cause of our dysfunction - if the forward line are leading the press and he’s understanding the triggers and following them - then things are better - that’s all training and learning.

We talk about Nunez being raw, and he’s almost 4 years older than Eliot.

True.
Don't get me started on "project" Nunez...

You're right Gerrard started at right back but that was for 2-3 games or so, I believe. Covering for Redknapp was a big ask though

I remember those 2-3 games. He was fucking outstanding.... Sorry I digress. Happy for the lad. I like him lots because he's a firm Red BUT.....
