He started off last season really well but had a poor second half of the season.
I wonder if the drop off had anything to do with the removal of Silva as Watford manager and if it had, then there is a good chance that he could replicate his early season form for Everton.
I seem to recall that he had Silva as his manager prior to signing for Watford

This is all pretty good stuff, and I do agree with it, although it's only fair to point out that we don't have the resources to actually buy that many options, unlike the Arab-funded City, who can have lots of £40 and £50m players on the bench.
Agreed, but I don't think anyone really expects us to spend 200 million every year like City.

I have no major complaints with FSG - they've spent whenever possible, and we've certainly spent a lot of money this window.

Having said that, there is some context to this massive spending.

- We generated 180 million in player sales last year.

- We should generate another 40 million or so in sales this year.

- We earned 150 million in PL revenue, and 70 million in CL revenue last year. We should generate somewhere in the ballpark this year as well.

- Our match-day revenues have increased by about 12 million every year since the new stand.

- We posted post-tax profits of about 40 million in 16-17. Should probably be even higher in 17-18.

- Thanks to the TV deals, most PL clubs are flush with cash. West Ham have spent 90 million this year. Wolves and Huddersfiled have spent 40 million. Promoted Fulham have already spent 30 million, and fucking Everton are looking to spend 50 million on one player.

The club looks healthy financially - and sure FSG deserve a lot of credit for that. So yeah, while we obviously can't afford to spend like this every year, it's certainly within our means to buy another attacker this year if we so wish.

This squad is on the cusp of trophies, and that might just be the final push it needs.

What we all know is that our chances of winning the league aren't great if our attacking options from the bench are Shaqiri and Solanke.

The new stand is still being paid for at a rate of £20m.
Certain players have had a huge rise in salaries and that will take effect.
The new intake of players are all on more than £100k a week

If we were the ones after Richarlison for £50m, you can guarantee that there'd be people on here that would be scrambling to justify it and say it was a good move.

Honestly if Richarlison and Shaqiri were both available for say £25m I think I'd probably want the Brazilian.

Hmm, at that price, I'm not so sure even the most spazzy of spazzes would be anything other than wary.

Good signing:

Wolves have agreed a £5m fee with Monaco for midfielder Joao Moutinho, Sky Sports News understands.
The 31-year-old Portugal international will reportedly sign a two-year deal with the newly-promoted side.
Moutinho's agent is Jorge Mendes, who has close links with Wolves.

An older version of Ruben Neves - surely the idea is to cushion his inevitable departure next season.

5m for moutinho is a joke. Wolves are really doing some underhanded deals. Yeah i know he's 31 but no way a player of his calibre goes for that cheap.

VIDA LINKED WITH LIVERPOOL
Liverpool
officials will fly to Turkey to complete a move for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, according to reports.
Vida caught the eye at Russia 2018 where he guided Croatia to their very first World Cup final, before suffering defeat to France.
Turkish newspaper Milliyet claim Besiktas have rejected a £19.7m bid from West Ham and snubbed an approach from Everton which did not match their valuation.
Besiktas reportedly want £26.8m for Vida, and it is understood Liverpool will step up their pursuit of the 29-year-old.

Same links been doing the rounds for over a week now. Seems like the club are using our name to flush out a bigger bid from Everton or West Ham.

Cue celebratory DVD if Everton buy him from 'under our noses'.

They're done loads this summer and they've all been amazing. They've really got a grasp of social media instead of these cringe ones with players appearing in FIFA etc.
