Summer rebuild 2023

It was all good what you said, but the Klopp methods make our players breakdown more often than other players. Also, Curtis can and will do a better job than Thiago will and has done for us.
If Thiago is a Alfa Romeo then CJ is a Range Rover, will get you A to B but there will be stoppages due to one ailment or another

Take it with a pinch of salt

Elliott Thompson from Alfosport lol??

Think I'll take it even less than with a pinch of salt.

They'd never accept 15m below the release clause and that's even with him back on loan there next season and despite Rafa now their manager.

Andy Naylor, Brighton reporter from the Athletic - saying that some club has put in an £80M bid for Caicedo, - club not named but its not Chelsea.

But didn't chelsea have a bid similar rejected ? If its us lol

While we need another center back, I am more worried about this new set up, which I think won't work.
Trent needs to be put back in his box at right back, and we have to stop placating him.

Agree. We either buy a right back and move Trent to RCM, or revert to previous years. The problem is, Trent's form at the start of the year was awful. I think his head will drop massively if he's told to focus on being a RB again

He seemed to switch off all the time. And while he is a very good player, we have others who can dictate play now.
In midfield, he will also be overplayed and will need someone to cover for him. I don't think the team as a whole benefits. I would save the coming into central mid move for the more weaker teams we face.

I also don't understand the talk of him being a captaincy candidate as he has not displayed the right attitude for quite some time.

I think I’m about ready to actually believe we completed all our buying early, have spent the rest of the window balancing the books and we might just be lucky enough to bring in a panic loan signing on the last day.

It’s a rebuild alright - just not the one people expected - most of the oldies and sick notes gone, couple of cracking players in and a focus on bringing through kids from the Academy.

You are so shamelessly FSG !!! You said do I need dressing up in the morning, but I think you have a worse issue than that... I bet you have portraits of John W Henry and Linda in your house.

Why or how am I shamelessly FSG?

It’s their money, I don’t have shares in them and there are a million other things I can think of that I’d rather they spend their money on to make my life more fun than spending it on 15 new players.

Isn’t that what we learnt recently - football is dead, it’s all about money and we’re just consumers addicted to a dream that doesn’t exist.

It’s also not my fault that you and other crazies convinced yourself that this was the year we were going to spend big, only to increasingly foam at the mouth as we don’t.

It’s pretty much the same as every other year.

It’s shit that we’re not being in more players, but we have 2 new players I really like the look of and if we have to become the cunts we always claim Dortmund are and have to start actually playing the kids we’ve been developing for years, then I’ll cope.

Seeing whether Curtis can play as a DM or whether Bobby Clark has what it takes to develop into a quality midfielder is going to be no less painful than watching Nunez scuff every half decent chance wide or Mo cut inside and welly every long range curler into the crowd or even play the weekly game of “will he or won’t he be fit” Thiago/Matip/Gomez/Jota/Curtis editions or the even more fun game of “Where’s Trent” - where you have to guess which part of the pitch you’ll find him after the opposition has exploited the massive hole he’s left at RB by wandering off somewhere for a cuppa tea or something.

I Love the passion of your response, but football is not dead at all, in the 80s when there seemed no end to our victories we were backed by that same formula that City is today...its really simple, wealthy owners and great manager(s). Such was our backing we could afford to tell Souness to fuck off. Its always been the same combination. Our PL win under Klopp is probably the only time in the history of our club that we won a title without being owned by the very wealthy in comparison to the other clubs around us.

If this turns out to be the case then I'm all in - it will be an exciting ride with Klopp guiding them. If on the other hand we turn around, sign Lavia, Chewamany, Thuram and Gvardiol then I am also all in.

Ab-so-fucking-lutely

Not sure that's true, is it?

In the 80s we were probably not as wealthy as United, Forest, Arsenal, maybe even Everton.

We rarely broke any transfer records at that time, and I don't even think we had our first million pound plus player until 1987 - years after others had done so (and even that was funded by the sale of Rush).

We weren't poor, but it WAS different then. Aside from anything else, the squads were tiny. Most players played every week so it was easier to compete for clubs even if they weren't the richest. No club (before probably Blackburn in 95) was so much wealthier that they could buy a whole new team.

After that, the increase of squad sizes and the super wealth of owners really made things more difficult.

Didn’t we do this last season and wasn’t that much fun in the end.
Wasn’t everyone on here moaning about whom to sell first? We sold few of the chief suspects this summer. This season Salah, Trent and Van Dijk on top of the prime suspects to turn on.
I respect we want to live within our means but then we probably need to all also temper our own expectations of what we want to achieve this season along with fact whom will come after Klopp.

You're a fan and customer, and if customers are dissatisfied, it has a impact on the business. We are not asking for 15, we're asking 4-5 players. We could have a total of 8 players leaving, so the squad would be materially smaller.

Isn’t that what we learnt recently - football is dead, it’s all about money and we’re just consumers addicted to a dream that doesn’t exist.
As long as there are winners and losers, football isn't dead. I don't want to wait another 30years to experience winning the league

It’s also not my fault that you and other crazies convinced yourself that this was the year we were going to spend big, only to increasingly foam at the mouth as we don’t.
Is it only us "Crazies" or "Loons" that are venting our spleens at the lack of expenditure and piss poor planning?

It’s pretty much the same as every other year.
It's not the same, this year as we finished outside the top 4. So FSG want top 4, it has to invest in players

It’s shit that we’re not being in more players, but we have 2 new players I really like the look of and if we have to become the cunts we always claim Dortmund are and have to start actually playing the kids we’ve been developing for years, then I’ll cope.
Dortmund have a plan where they sell players and invest in really good young talent, so does Benfica. Our kids look more like long distance runners than football players. Saying that, I trust Quansah and Bradley over Gomez and Matip. That's a problem, because neither will last a season.

CJ isn't a 6, he is a squad option. He might have a higher ceiling than I expected but he isn't Xavi or Macher.
Seeing Nunez and Mo fucking up in front of goal isn't an issue when you've scored 3 goals, the issue is letting in 4 because we don't have a proper 6 and our back-up CB Matip is slow so we have that huge space on the right the opposition exploit.
Now venting our spleen on a forum does no material good, but isn't the point of forum to air out such views? Of course people have every right to ignore us "Crazies", or correct us, but we are not the only ones who venting our spleens at FSG.

Vent away then.

As a customer how much do you spend on products from Liverpool FC that directly effect their value?

Did you spend more or less last year?

Are you looking at taking your dissatisfied custom and venting elsewhere?

Or are you just a moany fucker that secretly loves the reason to have a whinge - like all those fuckers that moan about the Government, then keep voting for the Tories.

One fan has no impact on the club's value, it's when 100s of thousands of fans do it

I bought some merch for the kids, I consume their social media. I am not their number 1 customer

Are you looking at taking your dissatisfied custom and venting elsewhere?
Well, growing your fan base is growing your customer base. Even being a follower to one of their social media account adds value to the club.

Or are you just a moany fucker that secretly loves the reason to have a whinge - like all those fuckers that moan about the Government, then keep voting for the Tories.
I think its perfectly valid to express how poorly FSG have done since winning the league. Just like the many others that have here. You want to give them a free pass, that's your right.
I am a Rejoiner, so I am voting Lib Dems if you must know.

Just to be clear to @StevieM - there was absolutely no expectation from me that we would spend big with these owners, Absolutely None - zilch. What I had hoped was that given we have got rid of at least 6 first team players, I was hoping we might get 4 in as a minimum and address the defemce before it becomes an emergency. I am not one of those thats crying for an Mbappe or a Barella or a £100M defender.

I can assure you all if we dont sign at least 4 in total, that we really are owned by a bunch of Gangster gamblers.

Those 4 you speak of… 2 new were signed and we’ll harvest 2 from the youths.

Besides… the 6 midfielders that left, barely count as 2.5 whole players.
