I've done this thread before.. But as the season is drawing to a close it seems worthwhile to do it again.

But who is/was the better player

Salah... He's the man for the big occasion.. Absolutely..

Suarez was a flat track bully.... [emoji12]

“He [Salah] played more on the wing for Roma, where he had a very dominant striker in Edin Dzeko,” Klopp said. “Nobody could know [that he could play as a striker]. We learned it step by step. We didn’t know exactly that he’s capable of playing in the centre.
“But we will not treat him like: ‘You don’t have to train, Mo – just come on Saturday for the game and we’ll see you there at Anfield or whatever.’ He doesn’t want that. He’s in the moment of his career but he knows there is a lot for him to come. He wants to learn and he wants to improve.”
At one stage on Saturday evening Klopp could be seen applauding after Salah chased back towards his own half, one of his few attempts at adding something defensively to Liverpool’s cause. That is not to suggest he is lazy, just that some players do not have that instinct. Fortunately for Liverpool, Klopp believes Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané are putting in a lot of extra yardage so Salah can concentrate on finding the back of the net.
“He does it. But sometimes he needs a little ... [reminder],” Klopp said of Salah’s defensive skills. “A lot of my players need that. Don’t misunderstand me, it’s only a thing, it’s not exactly the same strength. If you talk about Roberto, he loves running in that direction and chasing the players. If I said to him ‘Stop it’, he couldn’t.
“That’s why I took him off, because he will never rest. He runs all the time but then Mo didn’t stop as well tonight – in the other direction. He took each sprint like the 100-metre final in the Olympic Games. That’s what I mean: the team adapts to the strengths. Nobody is talking and saying, ‘Mo, but you have to …’ At the moment, nobody is saying anything to Salah other than “carry on”.

Salah is primarily a finisher, one of the best we've ever had. Suarez was a creative force. Different players, different roles. I'd love to see 2013-14 Suarez playing alongside 2017-18 Salah.

I think Salah has more of a Torres vibe to him at the moment. Both of them direct and pacy players, who naturally delivered in crucial European games, both complimented by hardworking partners; Kuyt for Torres is Firmino for Salah. Off the pitch, the fans absolutely adored Torres, who was humble and polite before his betrayal, so one would hope that Salah recognises this and never do the same to us!

I think Suarez is the better player.
He won countless games on his own. Salah is aided and abetted by Firmino and Mane.

They are both fucking amazing tho
Totally agree. During that record season of his, he was suspended for like 6 games. He still got 31 league goals.
That's amazeballs.

However, I do think the players around Suarez were a tad bit better though.
I mean an old Gerrard, Sturridge on top form, a young Coutinho and a young Raheem.
Salah has Firmino and Mane.

A few months ago this was no brainer for me. Salah was nowhere near Suarez class.
He was scoring a lot but missing a lot too.

However, over the last few months Salah has vastly improved. His conversion ratio has become much better.
He's beome so cold headed in the penalty area (e.g. Porto, Palace, City - these were amazing goals).
He's added much more to his game in terms of passes and overall contribution to the team.

So, I still thing that the Suarez that left us in 2014 was overall a better all-round player, but Salah seems to be closing on on him.

Today its not even questionable, Salah is head and shoulders above Suarez.

For me the thing that puts Salah slightly infront is his goals are spread over more games, Suarez had these amazing purple patches where he would fill his boots against sides that we thrashed and then the goals would dry up for a few games. In a one off game Id lean towards Suarez because hes capable of things Salah isnt, but over the course of a season Salah outstrips him.

Why the hasty change of heart?

If pushed I am going to say Salah by a mile. Cos he plays for Liverpool innit. And that other guy plays for Barcelona.

Today its not even questionable,

For me neither. Suarez easily currently. Salah might get there one day if he keeps up his current form, but Suarez could do ridiculous things (and I'm not on about biting). That last season for us, most of his goals could have been up for the goal of the season award. The main reason for me preferring the prime Suarez currently is, that Salah needs supply else it's not going to happen, Suarez didn't need supply, if we were playing shit, he'd go and win the ball himself, beat six players and then backheel it past the keeper.

Suarez for me. He could play up front by himself and still terrorise the oppositions defenders. Not only that but his will to win was infectious. It made lazy cunts like sturridge run a lot more than they usually would. But Salah is quality and getting better and better with every game. Just scared of 2nd season syndrome.

No way. How many has Salah scored by cutting in from the right a curling in a left footer? Or dancing past a few and slotting home? Whatever the merits of one v the other, saying Salah 'needs supply else it ain't gonna happen' is patently untrue.

I'm not saying Salah is shit or anything like that, far from it, but the majority of Salah's goals, the whole team is in the right part of the pitch, or, he's received a great ball to run onto. Suarez had the ability to terrorise people from any area of the pitch, dribble past all of them and score.

Like all varieties of cheese, or just cheddar or something? Is it bacon from a rare breed pig raised on an organic farm?
And was the cheese by chance stored in à cave on the French countryside accidentally when sneaking away to slip one's lover one? The pigs fed exclusively nuts from the rarest of oaks from Spain?
Pivotal questions

Yeah, could be fucking dairlea triangles or something and you're giving up this top quality bacon for that shite! No fucking chance!

I think Salah is the better player.

Suarez worked harder and was more tenacious but Salah has scored a fuck tonne more goals and that takes priority. In terms of skill and talent I think they're equal. Some of the stuff Salah has done this season matches anything Suarez produced.

Salah is also not courting any controversy and is able to feature for us regularly.

It's a no brainer for me.

Suarez did the sublime at times.... shit you prob wont see again in a LFC shirt in your lifetime....

Salah is just coolness personified... his left foot is a cool wand.

Suarez 2013/14 was being heralded as possibly the most complete striker we'd ever had. Anything was possible with him in the team.

Salah is having a superb season, but he's not at that individual level.

Don't let @RedNinja see that signature. From a mod no less

I don't think Salah yet has the power and vision to hit the kind of long range goals that Suarez did against the likes of Fulham, but maybe he just hasn't had the opportunity to do so. I think Salah is in a different class in terms of taking chances in and around the six yard box - his technique is supremely good but his composure is just freakishly impressive. They're both wonderful players, and I wouldn't mind much whichever one was in the team, except...if we really needed to win a key game, like the Chelsea or Palace game when we were challenging for the title, I think I'd want Salah. It's fine margins but his finishing is extraordinary.
