With the season he is having (constant MoM ) is safe to say Suarez has now surpassed Torres in brilliance?

Amazing state from BBC today

Suarez has embarked on 211 dribbles this season, 87 more than any other Premier League player.

Torres at his peak for me. Just.
Had this discussion with my Utd housemate and he reckons Torres too.
While he was great I just don't think he was consistently at Suarez level. Even if you take workrate and determination and fitness out of it which Suarez would easily win, I think he's just a better footballer.

Torres' record away from home was shite. Suarez seems to perform at a consistently high level wherever he plays.

It's a tough comparison because our team was definitely better back when Torres joined. Not sure how many goals he would have scored had he been in the team that started last September.
Suarez on the other hand more or less single handedly saved our season so far, and most likely would have been exceptional in the team of old as well.

Suarez for me.

Might be talking out of my arse here, but if we get better players in and our tactics shift Suarez away from being the focal point will he be able to keep up his form?

Your arse is indeed talking. More good attacking players means more, and more difficult decisions for the opposition to make, which means more space, which means more goals, for the team and for Suarez.

He looked just as good aginst Norwich and he was all over the shop

Haha I knew that would come back and bite me on my, erm, arse. I guess my concern is that if the play does not go through him will he be as effective.

Torres at his peak was basically a faster and stronger RVP, he was an absolute monster. That 2008/2009 season, Suarez has a lot more to do before he surpasses that level imo.

You could argue that adding to Torres' problems at Chelsea is that they have had more options than him, and most of their play wasn't designed to play to his strengths. However, I think that Suarez's natural game is to come deeper and occupy positions between the lines and on the flanks. It was noticeable against Norwich that he found himself in that trademark position near the byline with a narrow angle on a few occasions. The difference was there was someone in the six yard box too (Sturridge). Suarez will make goals for Sturridge now as well as banging in his share.

Difficult question to ask as there are whole load of different circumstances

However I do prefer Suarez, love watching this guy play.

Fights for every ball like its his last, a born winner.

Cared about it then too. I never wanted Kenny gone because we won a tinpot cup.
You did a pretty good impression of someone who didn't care at the time.

"Empty feeling" was what you said you had.

I don't understand the second sentence.

I'm not being snarky, by the way.

*smilie smilie ting*

Oh, and I don't really give a fuck as to whether or not Suarez is bettererer than Torres.

*shrugs*

It's tough. Torres was a phenom in terms of goalscoring, and was better than Suarez at that. But Suarez's all round play is better I think.

Torres for me.Just. But if Suarez continues to improve his goalscoring then it may just be him.

Imagine them both together in their pomp.

Torres on top form was a better goal scorer, I'm sure his conversion rate was a lot higher than Suarez's will ever be.

But Suarez is more likely to do things besides score. If Suarez keeps playing like he is until the end of the season, it will top Torres' best season for us.

Good question...

It's Torres at the moment. He sustained his brilliance for 18 months. Suarez has got to keep this going to match him.

Torres for me, Suarez has taken a year and a half to get going, Torres was a monster from day one

Suarez for me. My reasoning being, that at his peak, Torres was a goal scoring beast, clinical. But when Suarez is at his peak, he can score the goals, AND create his own, without supply or input from others. Torres couldn't do that. A lot of Torres success was tied to the understanding he had with Gerrard who was supplying it on a plate for him. Suarez can take a ball by their corner flag, skin the whole defence and put the ball in. That's not Torres' game.

You can't make a comparision as they are playing two different positions. Torres is an out an out striker but suarez isn't. Torres was the better goalscorer, but suarez easily surpasses him in his all round game. On top of that suarez will get a lot more assists than torres. But if i had to pick one i'd pick suarez ONLY because it doesn't matter what system we play he can play in any of them at the same high level. Torres can't, the team has to play a certain way otherwise he's useless as his record for spain and chelsea show.
